MPVs With a Panoramic Sunroof Under Rs 30 Lakh: Which Variants Qualify
The panoramic roof is never on the base variant, so judge these MPVs by the price of the variant that has it. The Invicto opens at Rs 25,02,400 but the sunroof is only on the Rs 28,70,500 Alpha Plus 7S, and the BYD eMAX 7 needs the Superior trim, which clears Rs 30 lakh by Rs 10,000 as a seven-seater. On the Kia Carens Clavis the dual pane roof is tied to the turbo-petrol from the HTK+ (O); the diesel gets a smaller sunroof. The Hycross VX(O) is the only one with a panoramic sunroof and eight seats, with no Toyota-published price.
Three MPVs can be confirmed from their makers' own pages as having a panoramic roof on a variant priced under Rs 30 lakh ex-showroom: the Kia Carens Clavis turbo-petrol (the whole Clavis range tops out at Rs 21.79 lakh), the Maruti Suzuki Invicto Alpha Plus 7S at Rs 28,70,500 and the BYD eMAX 7 Superior at Rs 29,30,000 to Rs 29,90,000. Two more have the roof but not a published price for the variant that carries it. The Kia Carens Clavis EV starts at Rs 18.04 lakh, and Kia's public page stops there. The Toyota Innova Hycross VX(O) is the harder case, because Toyota publishes no ex-showroom prices at all, so nobody can test it against the ceiling from Toyota's own material. We say where each stands below and leave those two prices to your dealer.
The catch on every one of these is the same. The panoramic roof is never on the cheapest variant, so the model's starting price tells you nothing. The Invicto opens at Rs 25,02,400 and the roof costs you Rs 3,68,100 more. The eMAX 7 opens at Rs 27,90,000 and the roof is Rs 1.40 lakh further up.
Key takeaways
- The Kia Carens Clavis is the cheapest way in. Kia's brochure puts the dual pane panoramic sunroof on the turbo-petrol from the HTK+ (O) trim, and Kia prices the entire Clavis range between Rs 11,38,900 and Rs 21,78,900.
- The Maruti Suzuki Invicto has a panoramic sunroof on one variant only, the Alpha Plus 7S at Rs 28,70,500. The two Zeta Plus variants do not get it.
- The BYD eMAX 7 Superior squeezes under the ceiling by Rs 10,000 in seven-seat form. BYD calls it a panoramic glass roof, not a sunroof.
- The Toyota Innova Hycross has a panoramic sunroof on the VX(O), ZX and ZX(O). Whether any of them is under Rs 30 lakh is a question only a Toyota dealer can answer on paper.
- The Maruti Ertiga and XL6 have no sunroof on any variant.

Prices are ex-showroom, read from each manufacturer's own website on 13 October 2026. Features by variant come from each maker's brochure. Kia shows variant-level prices only inside its configurator, which we could not read, so the Kia rows carry the published range and nothing more precise.
How this list was built and what could not be verified
Each car had to pass two tests. First, the maker's own brochure or specification table had to show a panoramic roof on a named variant. Second, the maker's own price page had to show that variant under Rs 30 lakh ex-showroom.
Three cars pass both tests cleanly: the Invicto Alpha Plus 7S, both eMAX 7 Superior versions, and the Carens Clavis, whose most expensive variant is Rs 21,78,900 by Kia's own statement, so every sunroof variant is inside the ceiling whichever one you pick.
Two cars pass the first test and stall on the second. Kia's Clavis EV page states a starting price of Rs 18,03,900, which belongs to the HTK+, the one trim without the panoramic roof. We could not find the HTX E or the top X-Line ER price on a Kia page that loads without the configurator. The EV is listed because its base price leaves a lot of room under Rs 30 lakh, but get the variant price in writing before treating it as confirmed. The Hycross is the harder case and has its own section below.
We did not verify on-road prices, waiting periods, or how well each sunshade keeps heat out. Mileage and range are the makers' certified claims, not our test results. The two electric cars quote range on different test cycles (MIDC for Kia, NEDC for BYD), so the 490 km and 530 km figures are not a like-for-like comparison.
1. Kia Carens Clavis
The cheapest route to a panoramic roof on a three-row car, by several lakh.
Kia's 2026 brochure lists the Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof against the 1.5 turbo-petrol (G1.5T) starting at the HTK+ (O) trim. That detail matters, because the same trim with the diesel engine gets the smaller Sky Light electric sunroof instead. The HTX trim is diesel-only in Kia's powertrain table, so it too has the smaller roof. If you want the big glass, you are buying the turbo-petrol.
From the HTK+ (O) upward the turbo-petrol trims are the HTX (O), GTX, HTX+, GTX+ and X-Line. The HTK+ (O) comes with a 6-speed manual or the 7-speed DCT; the HTX+ adds a 6-speed iMT; the rest are DCT only. The HTX+ with the DCT is the only one offered as a six-seater with second-row captain seats. Everything else seats seven.
The turbo engine makes 117.5 kW at 5,500 rpm and 253 Nm. Kia's brochure prints no fuel-efficiency figure for it, so we have left that cell empty instead of borrowing a number from a listing site.
Six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, all-wheel disc brakes and a tyre pressure monitor are standard on every variant. Level 2 driver assistance with 20 functions arrives on the HTX+ with the DCT.
What it is not: a hybrid. If running cost is the reason you are looking at MPVs, our list of the most fuel-efficient MPVs in India is the better starting point.
2. Kia Carens Clavis EV
The Clavis EV is more generous with the roof than its petrol sibling. The brochure adds the Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof at the HTX E, the second trim from the bottom, and every trim above inherits it. Only the base HTK+ goes without.
Two battery packs are offered. The 42 kWh pack pairs with a 99 kW motor and a claimed 404 km; the 51.4 kWh Extended Range pack with 126 kW and 490 km. Both make 255 Nm, and both figures are on the MIDC Part 1 + Part 2 cycle. Kia quotes about 39 minutes for a 10 to 80 percent charge on a 100 kW DC charger.
The HTX E skips the Level 2 assistance pack and the 360 degree camera, which start one trim higher at the HTX. So the cheapest sunroof variant is not the cheapest ADAS variant. All trims above the HTK+ can be had with six or seven seats.
Price is the weak point of this entry, for the reason given above. Kia's page confirms the Rs 18,03,900 start and nothing else.
3. Maruti Suzuki Invicto
This is the only strong hybrid on the list whose sunroof variant has a published price under Rs 30 lakh.
NEXA's brochure grid has two columns, Zeta+ and Alpha+, and the line "Panoramic Sunroof with Ambient Lights" shows a dash under Zeta+ and a tick under Alpha+. On the price page that works out as follows.
| Invicto variant | Seats | Ex-showroom price | Panoramic sunroof |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zeta Plus 7S | 7 | Rs 25,02,400 | No |
| Zeta Plus 8S | 8 | Rs 25,37,300 | No |
| Alpha Plus 7S | 7 | Rs 28,70,500 | Yes |
NEXA's page header shows the range running to Rs 28.80 lakh. The Alpha Plus 7S card itself reads Rs 28,70,500, and we take the difference to be colour options, though the page does not spell that out.
The Rs 3,68,100 step from Zeta Plus 7S to Alpha Plus buys a good deal more than glass. The same brochure grid gives the Alpha+ ventilated front seats, an 8-way power driver seat with memory, a one-touch powered tailgate, leatherette upholstery, the larger 25.65 cm touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, a 360 view camera, front and reverse parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a second automatic climate zone for the rear. The Zeta+ has none of those. It makes do with a rear view camera and no parking sensors at either end, which is a thin kit list on a car costing over Rs 25 lakh.
Mechanically the two are identical. A 1,987 cc petrol engine and an electric motor produce a total system output of 139 kW (188.9 PS) through an e-CVT, and Maruti claims 22.16 km/l for every variant. Six airbags, vehicle stability control with hill start assist, an electronic parking brake with auto hold and disc brakes all round are standard. Bharat NCAP rated the Invicto 5 stars, with 30.43 out of 32 for adult protection and 45 out of 49 for child protection.
Two weaknesses. The Invicto has no driver assistance package on any variant, while both electric rivals here offer one. And you cannot have the sunroof with eight seats, because the eight-seat bench exists only on the Zeta Plus.
4. BYD eMAX 7
BYD's India range has two trims, Comfort and Superior, each with six or seven seats. The specification table on BYD's site marks the panoramic glass roof and its electric sunshade for the Superior only.
| eMAX 7 variant | Ex-showroom price | Panoramic glass roof |
|---|---|---|
| Comfort 6 seat | Rs 27,90,000 | No |
| Comfort 7 seat | Rs 28,30,000 | No |
| Superior 6 seat | Rs 29,30,000 | Yes |
| Superior 7 seat | Rs 29,90,000 | Yes |
So the seven-seat Superior clears the ceiling with Rs 10,000 to spare. Any price revision takes it out of this list.
BYD's wording is worth reading closely. The table says "panoramic glass roof" and the page describes a 1.42 square metre viewing area with an electric sunshade. Nowhere does BYD call it a sunroof, so check at the showroom whether the glass itself opens before assuming it does. On the Invicto and Hycross the makers do use the word sunroof.
Both trims carry the same 71.8 kWh Blade battery. The Superior's motor makes 150 kW and 310 Nm, with a claimed 530 km on the NEDC cycle and 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. The Superior also adds ventilated and power-adjustable front seats and adaptive cruise control. Six airbags are standard on both.
The Toyota Innova Hycross problem
Toyota's Hycross brochure is clear on equipment. The Panoramic Sun Roof row shows a cross for the G-SLF, GX, GX(O) and VX, and a tick for the VX(O), ZX and ZX(O). The VX(O) can be ordered with seven or eight seats, which makes it the only car in this article offering a panoramic sunroof over an eight-seat cabin.
What Toyota does not publish is a price. There is no ex-showroom list on its India website and no price in the brochure. Price figures for the Hycross circulate on listing sites. We could not trace any of them to Toyota, so none appears here.
Our honest reading: the VX(O) is the Hycross variant most likely to sit near the ceiling, and the ZX and ZX(O) are the top two grades above it. Ask the dealer for the ex-showroom line on the quotation, separate from registration and insurance, and compare that single number with the Invicto's Rs 28,70,500.
The two cars share a great deal. Same 1,987 cc hybrid layout, same 139 kW system output (Toyota prints it as 183.7 HP), same 22.16 km/l claim, same 52 litre tank. The VX(O) keeps the rear air conditioner on automatic blower control, and Toyota Safety Sense is reserved for the ZX(O), so a sunroof Hycross is not automatically an ADAS Hycross.
Which one to pick
For the lowest price, the Carens Clavis turbo-petrol HTK+ (O), provided you are fine with a manual or DCT petrol and no hybrid system.
For a hybrid with a known price, the Invicto Alpha Plus 7S. You pay for the whole Alpha Plus kit list to get the roof, but most of that list is equipment you would want on a car at this price anyway.
For an electric MPV, the choice is between the Clavis EV's lower entry point and the eMAX 7's larger battery. Compare them on the same charger network you will really use, not on the range claims.
If you need eight seats under the glass, only the Hycross VX(O) does that, and the price conversation happens at the dealership.
For buyers whose budget stops lower, we have a separate list of the best 7-seater MUVs under Rs 25 lakh, and the safety side of the same cars is covered in MPVs with 6 airbags in India.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the cheapest MPV with a panoramic sunroof in India?
The Kia Carens Clavis. Kia's brochure fits the dual pane panoramic sunroof to the turbo-petrol from the HTK+ (O) trim, and the whole Clavis range is priced between Rs 11,38,900 and Rs 21,78,900. Kia's public page does not list the HTK+ (O) turbo's own price.
Which Maruti Invicto variant has the panoramic sunroof?
Only the Alpha Plus 7S, at Rs 28,70,500 ex-showroom. The Zeta Plus 7S at Rs 25,02,400 and the Zeta Plus 8S at Rs 25,37,300 do not have it.
Is the Toyota Innova Hycross with a sunroof under Rs 30 lakh?
It cannot be confirmed from Toyota. The brochure shows the panoramic sunroof on the VX(O), ZX and ZX(O), but Toyota publishes no ex-showroom prices in India. Get the ex-showroom figure for the VX(O) from a dealer quotation.
Does the BYD eMAX 7 have a sunroof?
The Superior trim has what BYD calls a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, at Rs 29,30,000 for six seats and Rs 29,90,000 for seven. The Comfort trim does not have it. BYD does not describe the roof as an opening sunroof.
Do the Maruti Ertiga and XL6 have a sunroof?
No. Neither brochure lists a sunroof on any variant.
Which of these MPVs is the most fuel efficient?
Among the petrol-engined cars, the Invicto and the Hycross hybrid both claim 22.16 km/l. Kia does not print a mileage figure for the Clavis turbo-petrol in its brochure. The two electric MPVs claim 490 km (Clavis EV, MIDC) and 530 km (eMAX 7 Superior, NEDC) on different test cycles.
