The Toyota Glanza is powered exclusively by Maruti Suzuki's 1,197 cc K Series four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, tuned to BS6 Phase 2 norms. In petrol guise it produces 66 kW (89 bhp) at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The factory-fitted E-CNG variant is detuned to 57 kW (78 bhp) and 98.5 Nm at 4,300 rpm, with the CNG tank rated at 55 litres (water equivalent) alongside the standard 37-litre petrol tank.

Certified ARAI mileage stands at 22.35 km/l for the petrol manual and 22.94 km/l for the petrol AMT — the AMT's slightly better figure is attributed to optimised gear-shift logic. The E-CNG manual returns a claimed 30.61 km/kg, making it one of the most economical options in the premium hatchback class. All petrol variants feature idle start/stop, which Autocar India's real-world tests show matters: city mileage dropped to 13.80 km/l (manual) and 11.86 km/l (AMT), while highway figures were a more respectable 17.50 km/l and 17.21 km/l respectively.

Boot space measures 318 litres — adequate for the segment, though the Tata Altroz offers 345 litres. The CNG cylinder does not intrude on boot space as significantly as aftermarket kits, since the 55-litre tank is factory-integrated.

The price premium buys Toyota's longer warranty and a denser service network across 362 cities and 650 touchpoints. Against the Hyundai i20, the Glanza wins on CNG availability and claimed mileage (the i20 has no factory CNG option) but trails on cabin refinement and feature density at equivalent price points. The Tata Altroz counters with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and a larger 345-litre boot, making it the safety-first choice, though it lacks the Glanza's AMT option in CNG.
