Best Value-for-Money Hatchback With High-End Features in India (2026)
Premium features start at different variants in each car. ADAS: Baleno Alpha (O) only, Rs 9,49,900. Head-up display: Baleno Alpha Rs 9,09,900, Glanza V Rs 9,48,000. 360 degree camera: Altroz Creative Rs 8,09,990. Sunroof: i20 Magna Rs 7,04,900, Altroz Pure S Rs 7,44,990, none on the Baleno or Glanza. Crash scores favour the Altroz at 29.65/32 and 44.90/49 against the Baleno's 26.52/32 and 34.81/49; the i20 and Glanza have no Bharat NCAP result.
The best value-for-money hatchback with high-end features is the Maruti Baleno Alpha (O) at Rs 9,49,900 ex-showroom: it is the only hatchback here with Level 2 ADAS and ventilated front seats, and it adds a head-up display and a 360 View Camera for less than the top variant of any rival. The Tata Altroz Creative at Rs 8,09,990 is the value pick below that, with the cheapest 360 degree camera and a 26.03 cm touchscreen. The Hyundai i20 Magna at Rs 7,04,900 is the cheapest car of the four with a sunroof. The Toyota Glanza V at Rs 9,48,000 matches the Baleno Alpha on most features and costs Rs 38,100 more.
Top-variant comparisons hide most of that. Each premium feature in this class starts at a different variant in each car, so this guide prices the features one at a time.

"Not offered" and "not listed" mean the feature does not appear in the manufacturer's current brochure for any variant.
How this comparison was built
The four cars are the premium hatchbacks under four metres that sell in the Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11 lakh band. For each one I read the variant-by-variant feature grid in the manufacturer's brochure, then matched every feature to the cheapest variant that carries it and to that variant's price on the manufacturer's own price list: NEXA for the Baleno, Tata Motors for the Altroz, Hyundai for the i20 and Toyota's Delhi dealer price list for the Glanza.
Three limits you should know about:
- Hyundai and Tata do not print certified mileage in these brochures, so no i20 or Altroz mileage is quoted.
- "Value" here means equipment per rupee. Ride, refinement and build are not something a brochure can settle, and I have not scored them.
- Autocar India has reported a Glanza facelift for 14 October 2026. Toyota's brochure and price list still showed the current car on 13 October, and that is the car described here.
Our earlier guide to the best premium hatchbacks in India ranks these cars as whole packages. This one is narrower: it asks only where the money for features goes.
1. Maruti Baleno: the most equipment under Rs 10 lakh
Price range: Rs 5,98,900 to Rs 9,99,000. Value variant: Alpha (O) MT at Rs 9,49,900.
The Baleno's range stops Rs 1,000 short of Rs 10 lakh, and its top variants carry three features that neither the Altroz nor the i20 offers at any price: Level 2 ADAS, a head-up display and ventilated front seats. A 360 View Camera comes with them.
Where the features start
- Delta, Rs 6,99,900: 17.78 cm touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, tyre pressure monitoring.
- Zeta, Rs 7,99,900: 22.86 cm SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen, wireless charging dock with active cooling, push-button start, automatic climate control, LED projector headlamps, rear view camera, Suzuki Connect, 16 inch alloy wheels.
- Alpha, Rs 9,09,900: head-up display, 360 View Camera, front ventilated seats, cruise control, leatherette upholstery, Clarion sound system, auto-dimming inside mirror, LED fog lamps.
- Alpha (O), Rs 9,49,900: Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, advanced emergency braking, forward collision warning and high beam assist.
The Zeta is the sleeper. At Rs 7,99,900 it has the big screen, the cooled wireless charger and LED headlamps, and it costs Rs 1,10,000 less than the Alpha. If you can live without the head-up display and ventilated seats, it is the stronger deal. If you want the full list, the Alpha (O) is, because Rs 40,000 for the whole ADAS pack is a small step on a Rs 9 lakh car.
Engine: 1.2 litre Z12E petrol, 82.93 PS and 112.4 Nm, with a 5-speed manual or AGS. Certified at 23.80 km/l manual and 24.77 km/l AGS.
Weaknesses: no sunroof on any variant. Its Bharat NCAP result, 26.52 out of 32 for adults and 34.81 out of 49 for children, is a 4-star and 3-star rating that trails the Altroz, and it was published in 2025 before the current update. Its 82.93 PS is the lowest output of the four. The ADAS pack exists only on the dearest trim.
2. Tata Altroz: the cheapest 360 degree camera and the best crash score
Price range: Rs 5,99,990 to Rs 10,89,990. Value variant: Creative MT at Rs 8,09,990.
The Altroz spreads its features lower down the range than the others. A sunroof arrives at Rs 7,44,990 and a 360 degree camera at Rs 8,09,990, which is Rs 99,910 less than the cheapest Baleno with one.
Where the features start
- Smart, Rs 5,99,990: six airbags, Electronic Stability Program, 10.16 cm digital cluster.
- Pure, Rs 7,14,990: 20.32 cm touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear view HD camera, rain-sensing wipers.
- Pure S, Rs 7,44,990: voice-assisted electric sunroof.
- Creative, Rs 8,09,990: 26.03 cm Harman touchscreen, 360 degree HD surround view, push-button start, rear AC vents, ambient lighting, cooled glovebox.
- Accomplished S, Rs 9,29,990: 17.78 cm digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, sunroof, LED fog lamps with cornering, tyre pressure monitoring.
- Accomplished+ S, Rs 10,74,990 with the DCA automatic: 26.03 cm digital cluster with map view, blind spot monitor, air purifier.
Engines: 1.2 litre petrol with 88 PS and 115 Nm, 1.5 litre diesel with 90 PS and 200 Nm, and 1.2 litre iCNG with 73.5 PS and 103 Nm on gas. It is the only car here with a diesel. Tata does not publish certified mileage in the brochure.
Crash result: Bharat NCAP scored it 29.65 out of 32 for adults and 44.90 out of 49 for children in 2025, a 5-star result in both categories and the best of this group.
Weaknesses: no ADAS, no head-up display and no ventilated seats in the current brochure. The top Accomplished+ S is automatic only and costs more than any Baleno.
3. Hyundai i20: the cheapest sunroof, and Bose audio
Price range: Rs 5,99,700 to Rs 10,68,200. Value variant: Sportz (O) MT at Rs 8,38,700.
The i20's features lean towards comfort and sound. It has no 360 degree camera and no driver assistance at any price, and Hyundai's brochure is clear about that by omission.
Where the features start
- Era, Rs 5,99,700: six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, digital cluster with TFT multi-information display.
- Magna, Rs 7,04,900: smart electric sunroof, rear AC vents, tyre pressure monitoring.
- Sportz, Rs 7,85,200: 20.32 cm touchscreen, rear camera, push-button start, cruise control. This variant loses the sunroof.
- Sportz (O), Rs 8,38,700: Bose premium 7 speaker system, and the sunroof returns.
- Asta, Rs 8,71,200: wireless charger, LED headlamps.
- Asta (O), Rs 9,24,700: 26.03 cm touchscreen with navigation and a voice-enabled sunroof. The IVT automatic version is Rs 10,43,700.
Engine: 1.2 litre Kappa petrol, 83 PS with the manual and 88 PS with the IVT, 114.7 Nm. The IVT is a continuously variable automatic, where the Baleno and Glanza use automated manuals. Hyundai does not publish certified mileage in the brochure.
Weaknesses: the i20 has no Bharat NCAP result. The sunroof pattern is odd, present on the Magna, absent on the Sportz, back on the Sportz (O), so check the exact variant. A loaded automatic crosses Rs 10 lakh.
4. Toyota Glanza: Baleno hardware, fewer features, more power
Price range: Rs 6,73,000 to Rs 9,99,000. Value variant: V MT at Rs 9,48,000.
The Glanza V has the head-up display, the 360 degree camera, cruise control, a 22.86 cm touchscreen and Arkamys sound. Toyota's brochure lists no ventilated seats, no ADAS, no wireless charger and no tyre pressure monitoring. Every one of those four is on a Baleno that costs the same or less.
What the Glanza does have is the stronger engine: 89.73 PS and 113 Nm against the Baleno's 82.93 PS, with certified mileage of 22.35 km/l manual and 22.94 km/l AMT. It also has automatic climate control from the base E grade. Buy it for the engine or for Toyota's service network. On features per rupee it is fourth.
Which one is the best value
- Most features for the money: Baleno Alpha (O) MT, Rs 9,49,900. Nothing else here offers ADAS at all.
- Best value under Rs 8.5 lakh: Altroz Creative MT, Rs 8,09,990, for the 360 degree camera, the largest screen and the 5-star score. The Baleno Zeta at Rs 7,99,900 is the alternative if you prefer a cooled wireless charger and certified 23.80 km/l.
- Cheapest sunroof: i20 Magna, Rs 7,04,900.
- If crash protection decides it: the Altroz, on any variant.
No car wins every row. The Baleno has the longest feature list and the weaker crash score. The Altroz has the best crash score and no ADAS. That is the trade you are choosing between.
