Best Compact SUVs With Automatic Transmission Under Rs 10 Lakh (2026)

Best Compact SUVs With Automatic Transmission Under Rs 10 Lakh (2026)

Four compact SUVs have an automatic with a maker-published price under Rs 10 lakh: the Hyundai Exter HX 3 AMT at Rs 6,98,600, the Maruti Fronx Delta AGS at Rs 8,24,900, the Toyota Taisor S AMT at Rs 8,94,000 and the Mahindra XUV 3XO REVX M (O) AT at Rs 9,99,000. The Fronx is the most efficient at a certified 22.89 km/l, against 22.79 km/l for the Taisor; Hyundai and Mahindra publish no figure. The XUV 3XO is the only one with a torque converter rather than an AMT. The Brezza VXi AT (Rs 10,60,900) and Venue DCT (Rs 10,94,600) miss the ceiling, and the Magnite, Kiger, Punch, Nexon, Kylaq and Sonet show no automatic variant price.

Four compact SUVs have an automatic variant whose maker-published price is under Rs 10 lakh. The Hyundai Exter HX 3 AMT costs Rs 6,98,600. The Maruti Fronx Delta AGS costs Rs 8,24,900 and is certified at 22.89 km/l, the best figure of any automatic compact SUV. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor S AMT costs Rs 8,94,000 and is rated at 22.79 km/l. Those three use a 5-speed automated manual. The fourth, the Mahindra XUV 3XO REVX M (O) at Rs 9,99,000, pairs a 6-speed torque converter with an 82 kW turbo petrol, the only torque converter under the ceiling. Several rivals, among them the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Tata Punch and Nexon, Skoda Kylaq and Kia Sonet, sell automatics that may well fit, but none of those makers showed a price for the automatic variant when we checked in October 2026. The Maruti Brezza automatic, at Rs 10,60,900, does not fit.

That split decides how to read this list. A model's starting price says nothing about its automatic, which is never the base variant. So every car below was tested on the price of its cheapest automatic, read from the maker's own price page. Where the maker does not publish that number, the car goes in a separate section rather than being guessed into the table.

Prices are ex-showroom. Maruti's come from the NEXA Fronx price page, Toyota's from its Delhi dealer price list, Hyundai's from the price service behind its own price page, set to New Delhi, and Mahindra's from the variant cards on its XUV 3XO page, which name no city. Mileage is the certified figure printed in each brochure for the automatic. Hyundai prints none for the Exter and Mahindra none for the XUV 3XO. Boot volumes are the makers' own figures.

And the near misses, all priced by their makers above the line:

Compact SUVCheapest automaticGearboxOver Rs 10 lakh by
Maruti BrezzaVXi AT, Rs 10,60,9006-speed torque converterRs 60,900
Hyundai Venue1.0 Turbo DCT HX5, Rs 10,94,6007-speed dual-clutchRs 94,600
Maruti Fronx 1.0 TurboZeta AT, Rs 11,03,9006-speed torque converterRs 1,03,900
Toyota Taisor 1.0 TurboG AT, Rs 11,86,0006-speed torque converterRs 1,86,000

The pattern is plain. Under Rs 10 lakh, every compact SUV automatic with a published price is an automated manual except one: the XUV 3XO REVX M (O), whose 6-speed torque converter squeezes in at Rs 9,99,000. The next published torque converter, on the Brezza, costs Rs 60,900 more than the ceiling. The Venue is the trap in this group: its 1.2-litre petrol is manual only, according to Hyundai's brochure, so its cheapest automatic is the turbo DCT.

Maruti Fronx: the most efficient, for a Rs 50,000 premium

The Fronx Delta 1.2 AGS costs Rs 8,24,900, exactly Rs 50,000 more than the Delta MT at Rs 7,74,900. For that you get a 5-speed AGS that Maruti's brochure rates at 22.89 km/l against 21.79 km/l for the manual. As with most automated manuals, the two-pedal version is the frugal one. The 1197 cc engine makes 66 kW (89.73 PS) and 113 Nm, and its 4.9-metre turning radius, shared with the Taisor, is the tightest published figure in the class.

The Delta+ AGS at Rs 8,64,500 is worth the extra Rs 39,600. It swaps the halogen projectors for LED multi-reflector headlamps, and adds LED DRLs, automatic headlamps and painted alloy wheels. Automatic climate control and six airbags are standard on every Fronx. What neither AGS trim gets is a reversing camera, which starts on the Zeta, or the head-up display, 360 View Camera and cruise control, which are Alpha only. Those trims come with the turbo engine, and their automatics cost more than Rs 11 lakh.

Two weaknesses. The 308-litre boot, shared with the Taisor, is the smallest of the cars here. And no Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP result exists for the India-spec Fronx. A Japan-market car scored 4 stars under Japan NCAP and an Australasian-market car 1 star, and neither result describes the car sold here.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: the Fronx hardware, Rs 69,100 dearer

The Taisor is built on the Fronx, with the same 66 kW (89.73 PS) 1.2-litre and a 5-speed AMT. Toyota's brochure certifies it at 22.79 km/l, a fraction under the Fronx. The S AMT costs Rs 8,94,000 and the S+ AMT Rs 9,29,000, so the cheapest Taisor automatic is Rs 69,100 more than the cheapest Fronx automatic. The boot is the same 308 litres, and six airbags are standard.

The case for it is the dealer network and the Toyota warranty and service terms, not the car. If those do not matter to you, the Fronx Delta AGS gets you the same hardware for less.

Hyundai Exter: the cheapest automatic, and the most automatic trims

The Exter has the cheapest automatic of any compact SUV with a published price: the HX 3 AMT at Rs 6,98,600, Rs 65,000 more than the HX 3 manual. It also has the widest choice under the ceiling. Hyundai offers the AMT on the HX 3, HX 4+, HX 6, HX 8 and HX 10 trims, from Rs 6,98,600 to Rs 9,49,600, with Knight and dual-tone editions of the HX 6 and HX 10 still under Rs 9,65,000. The 1.2-litre Kappa makes 61 kW (83 PS) and 113.8 Nm, six airbags are standard, and the 391-litre boot is the largest here.

The gap is the fuel figure. Hyundai prints no certified mileage in the Exter brochure, so we cannot tell you what the AMT will cost to run against the Fronx on Hyundai's own numbers. It is also less powerful than the Fronx, at 83 PS against 89.73 PS.

Mahindra XUV 3XO: the only torque converter under Rs 10 lakh

Mahindra's XUV 3XO page lists the REVX M (O) petrol automatic at Rs 9,99,000 ex-showroom, Rs 90,000 more than the same trim with a manual at Rs 9,09,000. It is the only XUV 3XO automatic under the ceiling; the next, the REVX Edge, costs Rs 10,59,000. Mahindra's brochure gives the 1.2-litre mStallion TCMPFi turbo petrol 82 kW and 200 Nm, and pairs the petrol engines with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic rather than an AMT. That makes it the smoothest-shifting gearbox in this group and by far the most torque. The boot is 364 litres on Mahindra's ISO figure, between the Fronx and the Exter.

The gap is the same as the Exter's: Mahindra publishes no certified fuel efficiency, so we cannot rank its running cost against the Fronx. And at Rs 9,99,000 it sits at the very top of the budget, Rs 1,74,100 above the cheapest Fronx automatic.

The automatics we could not price

These cars all sell an automatic, and several are probably under Rs 10 lakh. In each case the maker published the model's starting price but no price for the automatic variant when we checked, so we could not test them against the ceiling.

Nissan Magnite

Nissan's brochure offers the EZ-Shift AMT on the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine from the base Visia grade, certified at 19.7 km/l, and an X-Tronic CVT on the 1.0 turbo from the Acenta grade, certified at 17.9 km/l. The naturally aspirated engine makes 72 PS and the turbo 100 PS. Nissan's site shows grade prices from Rs 5,69,400 but does not separate the AMT. Global NCAP rated the Magnite 5 stars for adults and 3 for children in 2025. It is the strongest unpriced candidate, with the only CVT in the class.

Renault Kiger

Renault's brochure lists an easy-R AMT with the 72 PS 1.0-litre and an X-Tronic CVT with the 100 PS turbo, and a 405-litre boot. Its site shows version prices from Rs 5,81,000 without separating the gearbox, and Renault publishes no certified mileage.

Tata Punch and Tata Nexon

The Punch has a 5-speed AMT and the Nexon a 6-speed AMT and a 7-speed DCA. Tata's price pages list the automatic trims but, when we checked, rendered prices only for the manual ones. The Punch range starts at Rs 5,74,990 and the Nexon at Rs 7,39,990. Both hold 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings. Tata publishes no certified mileage.

Skoda Kylaq

Skoda's own page lists the 6-speed torque-converter automatic from the Classic+ trim up, with the 85 kW 1.0 TSI. The range starts at Rs 7,59,000, but Skoda shows no price for the Classic+ AT. Note the safety fine print: the Kylaq's 5-star Bharat NCAP rating covers the automatic only from the Signature trim, according to bncap.in's applicability table, not the Classic+ AT.

Kia Sonet

Kia lists 6AT and 7DCT gearboxes and a starting price of Rs 7,44,900 for the Sonet, with no automatic variant price.

Which one to buy

  • Lowest fuel bill with two pedals: the Maruti Fronx Delta AGS at Rs 8,24,900 and 22.89 km/l. Spend the Rs 39,600 for the Delta+ if you drive at night.
  • Lowest price and the biggest boot: the Hyundai Exter HX 3 AMT at Rs 6,98,600, with 391 litres. The trade-off is no certified mileage figure.
  • A Toyota badge on Fronx hardware: the Taisor S AMT at Rs 8,94,000.
  • A torque converter, a smoother shift: the Mahindra XUV 3XO REVX M (O) at Rs 9,99,000 is the only one with a published price under Rs 10 lakh. The Magnite CVT and Kylaq AT are worth pricing at a dealer.

How this list was built and what was not verified

Prices were read in October 2026 from each maker's own price channel: NEXA and Arena price pages for Maruti, Toyota's Delhi dealer price list, the price service behind Hyundai's price page set to New Delhi, and the price or configurator pages of Tata, Nissan, Renault, Skoda, Kia and Mahindra. Specifications, mileage and trim content come from each model's current brochure, and crash ratings from bncap.in and Global NCAP.

What we did not verify:

  • The automatic variant price for the Magnite, Kiger, Punch, Nexon, Kylaq and Sonet. None of those makers rendered it, and we did not fill the gap from dealer quotes or aggregators.
  • Certified mileage for the Hyundai, Tata, Renault, Kia, Skoda and Mahindra cars, which their makers do not print.
  • Real-world mileage. Certified figures come from a standard test cycle.
