7 Best Value-for-Money Mid-Size SUVs With Top Safety Tech in India (2026)
Bharat NCAP did not crash a Nissan Tekton. Its own note states the Tekton is a corporate twin to the Renault Duster with identical structure and safety equipment, so the rating is based on the Duster's assessment, which is why both show 30.49 and 45. Beyond that, value here is about the price of the cheapest ADAS variant rather than the starting price: it runs from Rs 15.39 lakh on the Tekton to Rs 18.50 lakh on the Tata Curvv, and the Maruti Grand Vitara offers no assistance at any price and has no crash-test result.
The Nissan Tekton is the cheapest way into a 5-star mid-size SUV with Level 2 driver assistance, at Rs 15.39 lakh for the Tekna T160 manual, undercutting the next cheapest by more than Rs 1.5 lakh. The Kia Seltos has the best crash result of the seven here at 31.70 out of 32 and 45 out of 49, and the Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the only one offering driver assistance together with all-wheel drive.
One thing worth knowing before you shortlist the Tekton: Bharat NCAP did not crash one. Its own note says the car is a corporate twin to the Renault Duster, that the safety equipment and vehicle structure are identical between the two, and that the rating is therefore based on the Duster's assessment. This is a formal extension by the programme, not a marketing claim, which is why both cars carry the same 30.49 and 45.

The seven, by what the money buys
1. Nissan Tekton, ADAS from Rs 15.39 lakh
The best value here if driver assistance is the priority. The Tekna T160 manual at Rs 15.39 lakh carries the full suite: adaptive cruise control with stop and go, autonomous emergency braking covering urban, pedestrian and cyclist scenarios, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition, driver drowsiness and attention warning, auto high beam, a 3D around view monitor, and parking sensors front, side and rear.
The 1.0 turbo petrol makes 100 PS and 166 Nm, claiming 19.4 km/l, and the 1.3 turbo petrol makes 163 PS and 280 Nm. For adaptive cruise specifically, you need the Tekna T280 DCT at Rs 17.79 lakh.
Its rating is the Duster's, formally extended by Bharat NCAP on the grounds of identical structure, and it covers the Tekton's own variant list from Visia to Tekna+.
2. Renault Duster, ADAS from Rs 16.99 lakh
The same platform, the same engines, and 30.49 out of 32 with a full 45 out of 49 for children. This is the car Bharat NCAP actually tested, on the Evolution, Techno and Iconic 1.3-litre variants.
The Iconic manual at Rs 16.99 lakh pairs the complete safety kit with the 163 PS engine, which is the most power of any ADAS variant here at that price. The kit includes adaptive cruise with stop and go, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot warning and auto high beam, along with a 360-degree 3D camera, hill descent control and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
3. Kia Seltos, ADAS from Rs 17.02 lakh
The best crash result on this page: 31.70 out of 32 and 45 out of 49, with the rating covering every engine and gearbox combination. It also has the deepest assistance suite: smart cruise control with stop and go, navigation-based smart cruise, highway driving assist, forward collision avoidance, lane following assist, evasive steering assist, blind spot and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, safe exit warning and a driver attention warning, plus front and rear dashcams and a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor.
The HTX(A) petrol manual at Rs 17.02 lakh is the entry point. For smart cruise control specifically, you need the HTX(A) IVT at around Rs 18.32 lakh. Engine choice is the widest here too, from a 115 PS petrol manual to a 116 PS diesel automatic.
4. Maruti Suzuki Victoris, ADAS from Rs 17.49 lakh
The only SUV here with two independent 5-star results, 31.66 out of 32 at Bharat NCAP and 33.72 out of 34 at Global NCAP, and the only one combining driver assistance with all-wheel drive.
Level 2 sits on the ZXI+ automatics: Rs 17.49 lakh for the two-wheel-drive car, Rs 17.58 lakh for the (O), and Rs 18.84 lakh for the AllGrip version, which is the only ADAS-plus-four-wheel-drive combination on this list. The suite covers advanced emergency braking for cars, motorcycles, pedestrians and cyclists, adaptive cruise with curve speed reduction, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and prevention, blind spot monitor with lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, vehicle sway warning and high beam assist.
Powertrain choice is the broadest here: a 103.06 PS petrol, a 87.8 PS S-CNG at 27.02 km/kg and a strong hybrid claiming 28.65 km/l. Two caveats: the strong hybrid variants do not get the assistance suite, and the S-CNG falls outside the 5-star rating.
5. Tata Sierra, ADAS from Rs 17.99 lakh
31.14 out of 32 and 44.73 out of 49, and the roomiest car here on a 2,730 mm wheelbase. The Accomplished petrol manual at Rs 17.99 lakh is the cheapest Sierra with the full kit, and it does something unusual: it pairs adaptive cruise control with a manual gearbox.
Level 2+ covers adaptive cruise with stop and go, autonomous emergency braking for cars, pedestrians and cyclists, lane keep assist, lane centring, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, a door open alert and intelligent speed assistance. The 1.5 diesel manual claims 21.26 km/l, the best figure among the non-hybrids here.
6. Tata Curvv, ADAS from Rs 18.50 lakh
The cheapest car on the list at Rs 10.00 lakh, though reaching its own safety kit costs Rs 18.50 lakh for the Accomplished X+. Its 29.50 out of 32 is the lowest adult score here, with 43.66 out of 49 for children, tested rated in October 2024.
Where it does well is the middle of the range, with a panoramic sunroof and a 10.25-inch touchscreen from around Rs 11 lakh. Three engines are on offer: a 120 PS turbo petrol, a 125 PS GDi with 225 Nm and a 118 PS diesel with 260 Nm. Tata has not published certified fuel-efficiency figures for the current car.
7. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, no ADAS at any price
Included because it competes directly on price and powertrain, and because the comparison is instructive. It gets six airbags, stability control with hill hold, ABS with EBD and brake assist, disc brakes all round, ISOFIX, tyre pressure monitoring, a 360-degree camera and hill descent control on the AllGrip variants.
What it does not have is any driver assistance, or any independent crash-test result. Its AllGrip at around Rs 18.05 lakh is the cheapest all-wheel drive here, and the strong hybrid claims 27.97 km/l, so the value case on running costs and traction is real. On measured safety it is the weakest proposition on this page, and it shares a showroom with the Victoris, which leads on both counts.
Where the value actually sits
For the cheapest full safety kit: the Nissan Tekton at Rs 15.39 lakh, with the caveat that its rating is the Duster's by formal extension rather than its own test.
For the best measured protection: the Kia Seltos, which leads on both adult and child scores and has the deepest assistance suite, from Rs 17.02 lakh.
For traction plus assistance: the Maruti Victoris AllGrip at Rs 18.84 lakh, the only combination of the two here.
For outright economy: the Victoris or Grand Vitara strong hybrids at 28.65 and 27.97 km/l, though neither hybrid variant carries driver assistance.
