9 Best SUVs With 6 Airbags Under Rs 25 Lakh in India (2026)
All nine have six airbags from the base variant, so this budget buys driver assistance rather than more airbags, and five of the nine offer it. Three have never been crash tested and all three are Maruti: the Fronx, Grand Vitara and Jimny. Their airbag counts are confirmed in Maruti's brochures but no independent test has measured the structure around them. On the two rated Marutis, the Victoris and Brezza, the S-CNG variants fall outside the 5-star rating.
Nine SUVs fit six airbags to every variant and have versions under Rs 25 lakh. Six of the nine hold 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings, and the Kia Seltos leads on both counts with 31.70 out of 32 for adults and 45 out of 49 for children. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the cheapest at Rs 6.90 lakh, the Victoris strong hybrid is the most efficient at a claimed 28.65 km/l, and the Mahindra XUV 7XO is the only seven-seater here.

The six that have been crash tested
Kia Seltos, from Rs 11.25 lakh
The best result on this page and the highest adult score Bharat NCAP has published for any SUV, 31.70 out of 32, with 45 out of 49 for children. The rating covers every engine and gearbox.
The 1.5 petrol makes 115 PS and 143.8 Nm, the 1.5 turbo 160 PS and 253 Nm, and the 1.5 diesel 116 PS and 250 Nm, returning 15.6 to 19.4 km/l. Level 2 with 21 features arrives on the HTX automatic, and Level 2+ with 28 features on the GTX (O) and X-Line (O), covering forward collision avoidance for cars, pedestrians, cyclists and junction turns, lane following assist, blind spot and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance and safe exit warning.
The rear seat reclines and gets its own vents and sunshade curtains, which matters more on a family SUV than most spec-sheet items.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris, from Rs 10.50 lakh
31.66 out of 32 and 43 for children, with the rating running from the base LXI to the ZXI+ 4WD, plus a separate 5-star Global NCAP result at 33.72 out of 34.
The most powertrain choice here: a 1.5 petrol with 103.06 PS and 139 Nm, a strong hybrid pairing a 68 kW (92.45 PS) engine with a 59 kW (80 PS) motor for a claimed 28.65 km/l, and an S-CNG at 87.8 PS and 27.02 km/kg. AllGrip Select four-wheel drive is available on the petrol automatic.
Level 2 assistance sits on the ZXI+ automatics from Rs 17.49 lakh. Two things worth knowing: the strong hybrid variants do not get it, and the S-CNG falls outside the variants the 5-star rating covers.
Tata Sierra, from Rs 11.49 lakh
31.14 out of 32 and 44.73 out of 49. Engines are a 1.5 petrol with 106 PS, a 1.5 turbo petrol with 160 PS and 255 Nm, and a 1.5 diesel with 118 PS and up to 280 Nm, claiming 13.5 to 18.8 km/l.
The best-equipped car here at the top: a triple-screen dashboard, a 12-speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos, a head-up display and Level 2+ with 22 features on the Accomplished+. It also has the biggest boot of the group at 622 litres to the roof.
Mahindra XUV 7XO, from Rs 13.99 lakh
30.76 out of 32 and 44.97 out of 49, the best child score among the non-45s. The only three-row SUV here, and its curtain airbags extend to the third row, which is the detail that matters on a seven-seater.
The 2.0 turbo petrol makes 200 PS and 380 Nm and the 2.2 diesel 185 PS with up to 450 Nm. The AX7T and AX7L add a driver knee airbag for seven in total, and they carry the Level 2 suite with adaptive cruise, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza, from Rs 7.50 lakh
A 5-star SUV starting under Rs 8 lakh, at 30.41 out of 32 and 43 out of 49, with the rating covering the 1.5 petrol in manual and automatic plus the 1.0 turbo manual.
The 1.5 K15C makes 103.05 PS and 139 Nm, the 1.0 K10C turbo 110.12 PS and 170 Nm, and the S-CNG 87.8 PS and 121.5 Nm at 26.90 km/kg. No ADAS at any price, but the ZXi+ bundles a 360-degree camera, head-up display, ventilated seats, blind spot warning, safe exit warning and rear cross-traffic alert for under Rs 14 lakh. The S-CNG sits outside the rating.
Mahindra XUV 3XO, from Rs 7.79 lakh
29.36 out of 32 and 43 out of 49, and the cheapest Level 2 assistance on this list. Three engines: a 110 PS turbo petrol with 200 Nm, a 130 PS TGDi with 230 Nm, and a 117 PS diesel with 300 Nm, the most torque here. The diesel AMT claims 21.2 km/l.
A panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, Harman Kardon audio and Level 2 assistance on the AX5 L and AX7 L put it well above its price bracket on equipment.
The three without a crash test
Maruti Suzuki Fronx, from Rs 6.90 lakh. The cheapest SUV here and the CNG mileage leader at a claimed 28.51 km/kg, with 22.89 km/l on the petrol automatic. The 1.2 Dual Jet makes 89.73 PS and 113 Nm, the 1.0 Boosterjet turbo 100.06 PS and 147.6 Nm, and the CNG 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm, all confirmed in Maruti's brochure along with six airbags as standard. Stability control, hill hold and ISOFIX are included, with a 360-degree camera and head-up display on the Alpha.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh. The widest powertrain spread of the untested three: a 103.06 PS petrol, a 92.45 PS strong hybrid claiming 27.97 km/l, an S-CNG at 26.6 km/kg and AllGrip Select four-wheel drive. Six airbags are standard, with a 360-degree camera, head-up display, ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof on the Alpha.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Rs 12.59 lakh to Rs 14.52 lakh. The only genuine off-roader on this list, with a ladder frame, ALLGRIP PRO four-wheel drive and a low-range transfer gear. The 1.5 K15B makes 77.1 kW (104.8 PS) and 134.2 Nm, claiming 16.94 km/l manual and 16.39 km/l automatic, all from the brochure, which also confirms six airbags across every variant. It seats four, not five, which rules it out for many buyers before safety even enters the question. Hill hold, hill descent and a brake limited-slip differential come with the off-road hardware.
Reading this budget
Rs 25 lakh does not buy more airbags, it buys sensors. All nine have six from the base variant. What changes across the range is the assistance suite, and five of the nine offer it.
The untested cars are all from one maker. Worth naming plainly: if an independent crash score is a requirement rather than a preference, the Fronx, Grand Vitara and Jimny do not meet it today, whatever their other merits.
On the two rated Marutis, check the fuel. Both the Victoris and Brezza ratings exclude their S-CNG variants.
