Maruti Suzuki India remains the country's largest passenger vehicle manufacturer by volume, holding an overall market share of approximately 40–41% (claimed, as of early 2026), though this figure has dipped from historic highs as the SUV and utility vehicle segment has grown to dominate the market. The company's current lineup spans 17–18 models ranging from entry-level hatchbacks such as the Alto K10, S-Presso, Swift, Ignis, and Baleno, through compact SUVs like the Brezza and Fronx, mid-size SUVs including the Grand Vitara (with a strong/mild hybrid option), the Jimny off-roader, and MPVs such as the Ertiga, XL6, and the premium Invicto (a rebadged Toyota Innova Hycross). CNG variants are available across a wide swath of the range, reinforcing Maruti's dominance in the alternative-fuel space. The company commands over 67% share in hatchbacks and sedans, and over 90% in the van segment, but holds only around 27% of the fast-growing utility vehicle segment.

Maruti's manufacturing footprint comprises plants in Gurugram and Manesar (Haryana) and a newer facility in Hansalpur-Becharaji, Gujarat, which also serves as the production hub for the e Vitara — the brand's first battery electric vehicle, launched in early 2026. The e Vitara is built on Suzuki's YMC platform and is also manufactured for Toyota as the Urban Cruiser eBella under the two companies' long-standing global manufacturing and design partnership. Since exports began in September 2025, Maruti has shipped over 35,000 e Vitara units to 46 countries (claimed), making it the brand's third-largest export model. Maruti has committed to investing $1.48 billion (claimed) to expand production capacity by 500,000 units in FY2026–27.

Looking ahead, Maruti has signalled that 80% of future launches through 2028 will be in the utility vehicle space, spanning petrol, CNG, strong hybrid, and electric powertrains, with prices ranging from approximately ₹5 lakh to ₹30 lakh. The near-term pipeline includes a flagship three-row SUV (internally coded Y17, positioned against the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari), an electric MPV based on the YMC platform, and an entry-level SUV (Y43) to rival the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Further out, a Renault Triber rival (YDB, based on the Suzuki Solio) and a small SUV (YK9, inspired by the Suzuki Hustler) are planned for 2027, with mid-cycle updates to the Fronx, Ertiga, XL6, and Grand Vitara slated for 2028.

On the EV infrastructure front, Maruti aims to establish 100,000 public and private charging points by 2030, having already partnered with 13 charge-point operators and installed over 2,000 charging points across 1,100 cities (claimed). The company also offers Battery-as-a-Service subscription plans and an assured buyback programme for e Vitara buyers, positioning itself to compete in the premium end of the EV segment while retaining its core strength in affordable, fuel-efficient petrol and CNG vehicles for the mass market.
