Hatchbacks With a Head-Up Display in India: Variants and Prices (2026)
The Baleno Alpha MT at Rs 9,09,900 is the cheapest hatchback with a head-up display, a Rs 1,10,000 step over the Zeta that also brings a 360 View Camera, ventilated seats and cruise control. The Alpha (O) adds Level 2 ADAS for Rs 40,000 more. The Glanza V costs Rs 9,48,000, has 89.73 PS against the Baleno's 82.93 PS, and lists no ADAS or ventilated seats. The Baleno's Bharat NCAP score is 26.52/32 adult and 34.81/49 child; the Glanza is untested.
Two hatchbacks on sale in India have a brochure-confirmed head-up display: the Maruti Baleno, on its Alpha and Alpha (O) variants from Rs 9,09,900, and the Toyota Glanza, on its V grade from Rs 9,48,000. Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi, checked on 13 October 2026. No other mainstream hatchback lists the feature. The brochures for the Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Altroz, Tata Tiago, Citroen C3 and Renault Kwid do not mention one on any variant.
So this is a short list, and the useful question is a different one: which variant do you have to buy, what does the step up to it cost, and what else arrives with the display.

How this list was built
I read the feature grid in each manufacturer's current brochure and kept only the cars where a row named "Head Up Display" carries a tick against a variant. That is a strict test, and it removes most of the names you see in other lists.
- Kept: the Baleno and the Glanza. Both brochures print the row and both show exactly which variants get it.
- Checked and excluded: the Swift, Celerio, WagonR and Alto K10 from Maruti, the Hyundai i20 and Grand i10 Nios, the Tata Altroz and Tiago, the Citroen C3 and the Renault Kwid. None of those brochures lists a head-up display.
- Not verified: imported premium hatchbacks such as the Mini Cooper. Some lists include it. I have not checked a current Mini India specification sheet, so it is not ranked here and I make no claim about it either way.
Prices were read on 13 October 2026. Crash scores are from Bharat NCAP's own result pages.
1. Maruti Baleno
The Baleno is the cheaper of the two and the better equipped. Its head-up display sits on the Alpha and Alpha (O) variants, with either the 5-speed manual or the AGS automated gearbox, which gives four variants to choose from.
Price of the variants with a head-up display
- Alpha MT: Rs 9,09,900
- Alpha (O) MT: Rs 9,49,900
- Alpha AGS: Rs 9,59,900
- Alpha (O) AGS: Rs 9,99,000
The Zeta below it costs Rs 7,99,900 with the manual and does not get the display. So the real price of a head-up display in a Baleno is a Rs 1,10,000 step, and you cannot buy it separately.
What else the Alpha adds over the Zeta
The brochure's feature grid shows these arriving with the Alpha: 360 View Camera, front ventilated seats, cruise control, leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, the Premium Sound System by Clarion, an auto-dimming inside mirror, auto-folding door mirrors, LED fog lamps, UV cut glass and precision-cut alloy wheels. Seen that way, the Rs 1,10,000 buys a dozen features and the head-up display is one of them.
What the Alpha (O) adds
Another Rs 40,000 on the manual, or Rs 39,100 on the AGS, buys the Level 2 driver assistance pack. The brochure lists adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, lane departure warning, vehicle sway warning, advanced emergency braking, forward collision warning and high beam assist. It runs on a monocular camera and a millimetre-wave radar. The standard Alpha has the head-up display without any of this.
Engine and mileage: 1.2 litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol, 61 kW (82.93 PS) at 5,700 rpm and 112.4 Nm at 4,500 rpm. Certified at 23.80 km/l with the manual and 24.77 km/l with the AGS. The S-CNG versions are sold only on the Delta and Zeta, so there is no CNG Baleno with a head-up display.
Safety: 6 airbags, ESP with hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist and ISOFIX anchorages on every variant. Tyre pressure monitoring from the Delta upwards.
Where it falls short: Bharat NCAP scored the six-airbag Baleno 26.52 out of 32 for adult protection and 34.81 out of 49 for child protection, published in 2025 and listed for petrol variants. That is a 4-star adult and 3-star child result, behind the Tata Altroz. It predates the current brochure, and the updated car has not been retested. The Baleno also has drum brakes at the rear and no sunroof on any variant.
2. Toyota Glanza
The Glanza shares its body and platform with the Baleno, and Toyota fits the head-up display to one grade only, the V. Toyota's Delhi price list puts the V MT at Rs 9,48,000 and the V AMT at Rs 9,99,000.
The step from the grade below: the G MT is Rs 8,65,000, so the V costs Rs 83,000 more. Per the Toyota brochure, that step also brings the 360 degree camera, cruise control, the larger 22.86 cm touchscreen in place of the G's 17.78 cm unit, the Arkamys premium sound system, LED fog lamps, LED daytime running lamps, UV protect glass, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-folding door mirrors and an auto-dimming inside mirror.
What it does not have: Toyota's feature grid lists no driver assistance pack, no ventilated seats and no tyre pressure monitoring on any Glanza. A Baleno Alpha MT is Rs 38,100 cheaper than a Glanza V MT and has ventilated front seats. For Rs 1,900 more than the Glanza V MT, the Baleno Alpha (O) MT adds Level 2 ADAS.
Engine and mileage: this is where the two cars now differ. The Glanza keeps a 1.2 litre petrol rated at 66 kW (89.73 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4,400 rpm, so it has about 7 PS more than the Baleno. It is certified at 22.35 km/l with the manual and 22.94 km/l with the AMT, which is 1.45 to 1.83 km/l behind the Baleno. The E-CNG is offered on the S and G grades only, so, as with the Baleno, there is no CNG car with a head-up display.
Safety: front, side and curtain airbags, vehicle stability control, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, brake assist and ISOFIX on every grade. The Glanza has no Bharat NCAP result.
A timing note: Autocar India has reported that a facelifted Glanza is due to debut on 14 October 2026, with driver assistance and ventilated seats expected on the top grade. Toyota's brochure and price list still showed the current car on 13 October 2026, and everything above describes that car. If you are about to book a Glanza V, ask the dealer which version you are being quoted for.
What a head-up display does, and what it does not
A head-up display puts your speed and a few other readings in your line of sight, so your eyes drop less often to the instrument cluster. The Baleno brochure shows it as a small transparent panel that rises above the dashboard ahead of the driver, with the speed readout on it. Toyota describes its version as showing essential drive details without taking your eyes off the road.
Two things are worth knowing before you pay for one.
- It is a convenience feature. It does not change how the car protects you in a crash, and it is not part of any crash-test score.
- Whether you can read it depends on your seating height and, on sunny days, on your sunglasses. Polarised lenses dim some displays. Sit in the car in daylight before you decide the feature is worth a variant step.
Which one to buy
If the head-up display is the reason you are looking, the Baleno Alpha MT at Rs 9,09,900 is the cheapest way to get one in a hatchback, and it brings ventilated seats and a 360 degree camera with it. The Alpha (O) is the better buy if you drive on highways often, because Rs 40,000 for adaptive cruise control and emergency braking is a small step.
Pick the Glanza V if you want the stronger engine and prefer Toyota's dealer and service network. You pay more for less equipment, so that preference has to matter to you.
If you would rather have the same feature in a taller body, the Maruti Fronx Alpha also has a head-up display, and our list of first cars with six airbags and a head-up display covers it alongside the Brezza, Grand Vitara and Victoris.
