7 Best First Cars With 6 Airbags and a Head-Up Display in India (2026)

7 Best First Cars With 6 Airbags and a Head-Up Display in India (2026)

A head-up display is now a sub-Rs 10 lakh feature, and the Baleno Alpha is the cheapest car that has one. Tested safety is the gap: four of these seven cars have no Bharat NCAP result at all, including the Grand Vitara at up to Rs 19.77 lakh, and the Baleno's own six-airbag result is 4 stars for adults and 3 for children. If you want the display plus a verified 5-star structure, the list is two cars, the Brezza and the Victoris. Toyota publishes no ex-showroom prices for the Glanza or the Taisor.

The cheapest car in India that pairs six standard airbags with a head-up display is the Maruti Baleno, on its Alpha and Alpha (O) variants, inside a range that tops out at Rs 9.99 lakh ex-showroom. Seven cars now offer that combination. The catch a first-time buyer should know before shortlisting any of them: only two of the seven have a Bharat NCAP crash-test result at all, the Brezza at 30.41 of 32 for adults and the Victoris at 31.66 of 32. The other five, the Baleno's own 4-star result included, are either untested or rated below 5 stars.

A head-up display projects your speed and navigation prompts into your line of sight so you are not looking down at the cluster. It used to be a luxury-car feature. It is now available on a hatchback whose entire price range sits under Rs 10 lakh.

Key takeaways

  • The Baleno is the cheapest route to a head-up display. Its HUD variants are the Alpha and Alpha (O), in a range running from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh.
  • Only the Brezza and the Victoris carry a Bharat NCAP rating, both 5 stars for adults and children. The Grand Vitara, Fronx, Glanza and Urban Cruiser Taisor have never been tested.
  • All seven fit six airbags to every variant, including the base variant.
  • Toyota does not publish ex-showroom prices for the Glanza or the Taisor on its website, so the price column below is blank for both. Ask a dealer for a quote.
  • The Baleno and the Glanza are no longer mechanically identical twins. The Baleno runs the 82.93 PS Z12E, the Glanza the 89.73 PS K12N.

Only two of the seven have been crash tested

This is the part worth sitting with. A head-up display is a convenience feature. Six airbags are hardware. Neither tells you how the car's structure behaves in a crash, and that is what a Bharat NCAP result measures.

  • Rated 5 stars: the Brezza, at 30.41 of 32 for adults and 43.00 of 49 for children, tested as a ZXi+ 1.5L 6AT and published in July 2026. The Victoris, at 31.66 of 32 and 43.00 of 49, from September 2025. The Victoris also holds a 5-star Global NCAP result from 2025, at 33.72 of 34 for adults and 41.00 of 49 for children, on that programme's separate scale.
  • Rated, but not 5 stars: the Baleno. Bharat NCAP tested both a two-airbag and a six-airbag version. The six-airbag car scored 26.52 of 32 for adults and 34.81 of 49 for children, which is 4 stars and 3 stars, and that result lists the Zeta and Alpha variants. Since the head-up display is an Alpha feature, this is the result that applies to the variant you would actually buy. The September 2026 facelift has not been retested.
  • Never tested: the Fronx, the Grand Vitara, the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser Taisor. The Grand Vitara is the striking one. It is the second most expensive car on this list, reaching Rs 19.77 lakh, and it has no Bharat NCAP result.

One more applicability detail: the Brezza's 5-star rating covers its petrol variants. The S-CNG is outside it, so the 26.90 km/kg figure arrives without a crash rating attached.

1. Maruti Baleno

The cheapest head-up display in the country, and the only car here that offers Level 2 ADAS inside a sub-Rs 10 lakh range. The Alpha (O) variants add adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane keep assist.

Also worth knowing: 22.86 cm touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and CarPlay, cooled wireless charger, ventilated front seats. Its crash result is the weakest of the three rated cars here.

2. Toyota Glanza

The Glanza is the Baleno's Toyota counterpart, but no longer its mechanical twin. It keeps the 1.2-litre K12N at 89.73 PS and 113 Nm, where the Baleno moved to the Z12E, so the Glanza is the more powerful of the two and the Baleno the more efficient.

Price: Toyota does not publish ex-showroom prices for the Glanza. The head-up display is on the V MT and V AMT, the top of a four-variant range that runs E, S, G and V.

Engine: 1.2-litre petrol, 66 kW or 89.73 PS and 113 Nm. CNG makes 57 kW or 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm. Five-speed manual or AMT.

3. Maruti Fronx

The cheapest head-up display in a compact SUV body, paired on its Alpha variants with the 1.0-litre turbo that is the quickest engine on this list after the Brezza's.

Price: Rs 6.90 lakh to Rs 12.03 lakh. Head-up display on Alpha MT and Alpha AT.

Safety: Six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ISOFIX, reverse sensors, rear and 360-degree cameras. Not tested by Bharat NCAP.

4. Maruti Brezza

The best combination here of a head-up display and a verified crash result, and the most powerful petrol engine on the list. The ZXi+ Turbo MT runs the 1.0-litre K10C DiTC at 110.12 PS and 170 Nm.

Price: Rs 7.50 lakh to Rs 13.71 lakh. Head-up display on ZXi+ Turbo MT and ZXi+ AT.

Engine: 1.0-litre turbo petrol 110.12 PS and 170 Nm, 1.5-litre K15C 103.05 PS and 139 Nm, 1.5-litre CNG 87.8 PS and 121.5 Nm on gas.

Also worth knowing: Electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, 25.65 cm touchscreen. No ADAS on any variant.

5. Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor

The Fronx's Toyota sibling, and the one car here whose mileage numbers most lists get wrong by copying the Fronx's. Toyota's own brochure certifies different figures.

Price: Toyota does not publish ex-showroom prices for the Taisor. Head-up display on the V Turbo MT and V Turbo AT.

Engine: 1.2-litre petrol 89.73 PS and 113 Nm, 1.0-litre turbo 100.06 PS and 147.6 Nm, CNG 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm on gas.

Mileage: 21.71 km/l on the 1.2 manual and 22.79 km/l on the AMT, 21.18 km/l on the turbo manual and 19.86 km/l on the turbo automatic, 28.51 km/kg on CNG. Each is a little below the equivalent Fronx figure.

Safety: Six airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, hill hold assist, ISOFIX, rear sensors, 360-degree camera. Boot space is 308 litres. Not tested by Bharat NCAP.

6. Maruti Grand Vitara

The cheapest way to combine a head-up display with all-wheel drive, since the AllGrip variants sit inside the Alpha trims that carry the HUD. It is also the most expensive untested car on this list.

Price: Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.77 lakh. Head-up display on Alpha, Alpha (O), Alpha+ and Alpha+ (O), AllGrip versions included.

Engine: 1.5-litre K15C petrol 103.06 PS and 139 Nm, with AllGrip Select AWD on the six-speed automatic. 1.5-litre strong hybrid, 115.56 PS combined, e-CVT. An S-CNG variant is sold, making 87.8 PS on gas.

Mileage: 21.11 km/l petrol manual, 20.58 km/l petrol automatic, 19.20 km/l AllGrip automatic, 27.97 km/l strong hybrid. Maruti's Grand Vitara brochure publishes no CNG specification table, so no certified CNG figure is quoted here.

Safety: Six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ISOFIX, tyre pressure monitoring, 360-degree camera. No Bharat NCAP result.

7. Maruti Victoris

The best-rated car here and the only one that puts a head-up display, Level 2 ADAS and all-wheel drive in the same model range. Its strong hybrid is also the most efficient engine on this list.

Price: Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh. Head-up display on every ZXi+ and ZXi+ (O) variant. ADAS variants start at Rs 17.49 lakh.

Six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ISOFIX, tyre pressure monitoring, 360-degree HD camera, Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and a blind spot monitor.

Which one to buy

If the head-up display is the feature you want and the budget is tight, the Baleno Alpha is the answer, with the caveat that its crash result is 4 stars for adults and 3 for children. If you want the display and a verified 5-star structure, the list narrows to two cars: the Brezza from its ZXi+ variants, and the Victoris, which is the better car in almost every respect and priced accordingly.

What I would not do is treat six airbags and a head-up display as proof of safety. Four of these seven cars have never been through a Bharat NCAP test, and one of them costs nearly Rs 20 lakh.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the cheapest car in India with a head-up display?

The Maruti Baleno, on its Alpha and Alpha (O) variants. The Baleno's full range runs from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh ex-showroom, so every variant with the display sits under Rs 10 lakh.

Which car with a head-up display has a 5-star safety rating?

Two of them. The Maruti Brezza scored 30.41 of 32 for adults and 43.00 of 49 for children at Bharat NCAP, and the Maruti Victoris scored 31.66 of 32 and 43.00 of 49. The Brezza's head-up display starts on its ZXi+ variants and the Victoris's on its ZXi+ variants.

Do all these cars have six airbags as standard?

Yes. All seven fit six airbags to every variant, base variant included.

What does a head-up display actually do?

It projects your speed, and on most of these cars your navigation prompts, onto the windscreen or a small panel above the dashboard, inside your normal line of sight. You read it without looking down at the instrument cluster.

Which of these also has ADAS?

The Baleno, on its Alpha (O) variants, and the Victoris, from Rs 17.49 lakh. Both offer Level 2 systems with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane keep assist. The other five have none.

Are the Baleno and the Glanza the same car?

Not any more. They share a body and a platform, but the Baleno now runs the 82.93 PS Z12E petrol engine and the Glanza the 89.73 PS K12N. Their certified mileage differs too, 23.80 to 24.77 km/l for the Baleno against 22.35 to 22.94 km/l for the Glanza.

Engine, mileage and equipment figures were taken from each car's official manufacturer brochure, prices from each manufacturer's own price list, and crash scores from the Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP reports linked below, in October 2026. Toyota does not publish ex-showroom prices for the Glanza or the Urban Cruiser Taisor on its website. Prices are ex-showroom Delhi and vary by city, variant and date. Confirm the equipment and the applicable crash rating for your exact variant with your dealer before buying.
