Hatchbacks With an Auto-Dimming IRVM on the Top Variant
Three hatchbacks fit an auto-dimming IRVM to their top variant: the Maruti Baleno Alpha (O) AGS at Rs 9,99,000, the facelifted Toyota Glanza V(O) and the Citroen C3X Shine. The Baleno and Glanza also fit it one trim lower, and the Baleno Alpha MT at Rs 9,09,900 is the cheapest hatchback with the mirror that has a published price. The top Maruti Swift ZXi+ AGS (Rs 8,73,900), Hyundai i20 Asta (O), Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago all keep a manual day and night mirror.
Three hatchbacks on sale in India fit an auto-dimming IRVM to their top variant: the Maruti Baleno, whose Alpha (O) AGS tops the range at Rs 9,99,000, the facelifted Toyota Glanza on its V and V(O), and the Citroen C3X on its Shine. The Baleno is the only one of the three whose maker publishes a variant price we could read, and it also gives you the mirror one trim below the top, on the Alpha manual at Rs 9,09,900. The top variants of the Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago all still use a manual day and night mirror. Prices are ex-showroom, checked October 2026.
We covered the Baleno's mirror in our hatchbacks, sedans and MPVs with an auto-dimming mirror roundup earlier this month, when it looked like the only hatchback with one. Two things have changed since. Toyota launched the facelifted Glanza with a new brochure dated 13 October 2026, and Citroen published a new C3X brochure in late October. Both now list the mirror. This article looks only at hatchbacks, and only at the question buyers usually ask in the showroom: if I buy the top variant, do I get it?

"Lowest variant with it" is the first column in the maker's feature grid marked auto-dimming. The Baleno and Swift prices come from Maruti's own ex-showroom price feed.
The three that have it
Maruti Baleno: Alpha and Alpha (O)
The Baleno's September 2026 brochure has a row headed "Auto Dimming IRVM" and prints a dash under Sigma, Delta and Zeta, then a tick under Alpha and Alpha (O), manual and AMT alike. So the four qualifying variants are:
- Alpha MT: Rs 9,09,900
- Alpha (O) MT: Rs 9,49,900
- Alpha AGS: Rs 9,59,900
- Alpha (O) AGS: Rs 9,99,000
The Alpha already brings the head-up display, 360 View Camera, cruise control, auto-folding mirrors, LED fog lamps and front ventilated seats. What the Alpha (O) adds on top is Level 2 ADAS: adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and prevention, vehicle sway warning, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning and high beam assist. That suite is on the Alpha (O) manual as well as the AGS, so you do not need the automatic to get it. Cruise control on the Alpha is the plain kind; the brochure marks the Alpha (O) as "(ACC)".
The engine is Maruti's 1197 cc Z12E three-cylinder, 61 kW (82.93 PS) and 112.4 Nm, rated at 23.80 km/l with the manual and 24.77 km/l with the AMT. Six airbags and ESP with hill hold are standard on every Baleno.
Two weaknesses. The mirror is not available on the CNG Baleno at all, because Maruti sells the S-CNG only in Delta and Zeta trims. And the only Bharat NCAP result for the Baleno is for a two-airbag car tested in June 2025 (24.04 out of 32 for adult protection), which does not describe the six-airbag car on sale now.
Toyota Glanza: V and V(O)
The facelifted Glanza is now very close to the new Baleno mechanically. Toyota's brochure lists the same 1,197 cc three-cylinder at 61 kW and 112.4 Nm, with 23.80 km/l for the manual and 24.77 km/l for the AMT. If you read older coverage, the Glanza used a different, more powerful engine until this update; that is no longer the case.
Toyota's grid labels the mirror row "Day / night rear view mirror" and prints Manual under E, S, S CNG, G and G CNG, then Auto under V and V(O). So the mirror arrives one trim below the top, as on the Baleno. The V(O) is the only Glanza with ADAS Level 2 (adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning and prevention, autonomous emergency braking and high beam assist); the V has conventional cruise control. The head-up display and 360-degree camera are on both the V and V(O).
Toyota's price list loads through a dealer-specific tool we could not read, so we cannot give a V or V(O) price. A draft we reviewed put the V(O) AMT at Rs 10,98,000; we could not confirm that against Toyota's own list and have left it out.
Citroen C3X: Shine only
Citroen now sells the C3 as the C3X and markets it as a compact SUV, but at 3,981 mm long with a 315-litre boot it is the same hatchback-sized car buyers know as the C3, and it competes for the same money. Its October 2026 brochure grid has two mirror rows. "Day/Night Inside Rear View Mirror" is ticked on Live, Live (O), Feel and Feel (O). "Electrochromic Inside Mirror" is ticked only on the Shine.
That makes the Shine the only C3X with it, and the Shine is also the top trim. The Shine comes with the 1.2-litre petrol (82 PS, 115 Nm, 5-speed manual) or the PureTech 110 turbo (110 PS, with 190 Nm on the 6-speed manual and 205 Nm on the 6-speed automatic). The brochure is worth reading closely on two points. Side and curtain airbags appear only on the Feel (O) and Shine, so the cheaper trims have two airbags. And ESP, hill hold and tyre pressure monitoring are listed on the Shine only with the PureTech 110 engine. The 360-degree camera on the Shine is a "mandatory dealer accessory" at extra cost rather than factory fit.
Citroen's model page did not show variant prices when we checked, so the Shine has no figure here.
The top variants that do not have it
The more useful finding for many buyers is which well-equipped top trims stop short.
The Maruti Swift's October 2026 brochure row reads "Day and Night Adjustable Inside Rear View Mirror" with a dash under the LXi and "(Manual)" under VXi, VXi (O), ZXi and ZXi+. The ZXi+ AGS at Rs 8,73,900 is a well-kitted car with a flip tab on the mirror. A Baleno Alpha MT at Rs 9,09,900 costs Rs 36,000 more and has the auto-dimming mirror.
Hyundai's i20 grid ticks "Day & night mirror inside rear view mirror" as standard on all nine variants, from Era to Asta (O) Knight, and adds Bluelink buttons on the mirror for the Asta (O) and Asta (O) Knight. There is no electrochromic option. The Grand i10 Nios grid shows a day and night mirror on every variant except the base, which has none.
Tata's Tiago brochure lists a "Day/Night IRVM". The Altroz is the case we could not settle: its May 2026 brochure lists an "AntiGlare IRVM" from the Pure trim upward without saying whether it dims automatically, and Tata publishes no column-by-column grid for it. We have not counted the Altroz either way.
How this list was built, and what was not verified
We opened each maker's current brochure, found the inside mirror row and read it variant by variant. A car counts only where the grid says Auto, Auto Dimming or Electrochromic. Brochures used: Maruti Baleno (September 2026), Toyota Glanza (October 2026), Citroen C3X (October 2026), Maruti Swift (October 2026), Hyundai i20 (September 2026), Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (September 2026), Tata Tiago (May 2026) and Tata Altroz (May 2026). The Glanza brochure is image-only, so we read its grid from the rendered pages.
Prices for the Baleno and Swift come from Maruti's ex-showroom price feed and NEXA's rendered Baleno price page; the Baleno has no dual-tone price split. Toyota and Citroen prices could not be read from their own sites, and Hyundai's i20 page shows only the starting price.
What is not verified: Glanza and C3X variant prices; whether the Altroz's anti-glare mirror is automatic; and how well any of these mirrors actually dims, which a brochure cannot tell you.
Is the mirror a reason to buy the top variant?
On its own, no. But on the Baleno and Glanza it comes with the head-up display and 360-degree camera on the same trim, so if you were buying the Alpha or V for those, the mirror is a free extra. The real decision is the step to the Alpha (O) or V(O), which adds Level 2 ADAS and nothing for the mirror. On the C3X the mirror is a Shine-only feature, and you should check which engine you are buying, because ESP depends on it. If a head-up display or 360-degree camera matters more to you, our lists of hatchbacks with a head-up display and hatchbacks with a 360-degree camera under Rs 10 lakh rank those features directly.
Frequently asked questions
Which hatchback has an auto-dimming IRVM on its top variant?
The Maruti Baleno Alpha (O), the Toyota Glanza V(O) and the Citroen C3X Shine. The Baleno and Glanza also fit it one trim lower, on the Alpha and V.
What is the cheapest hatchback with an auto-dimming IRVM?
Of the cars with a published variant price, the Maruti Baleno Alpha MT at Rs 9,09,900 ex-showroom. Toyota and Citroen did not publish variant prices we could read, so the Glanza V and C3X Shine could not be compared.
Does the Baleno Alpha (O) MT get ADAS, or only the AGS?
Both. Maruti's grid ticks every ADAS row under "Alpha (O) MT/AMT", so the manual has adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking too.
Does the Maruti Swift ZXi+ have an auto-dimming mirror?
No. The brochure marks the mirror "(Manual)" on every variant from VXi to ZXi+, and the LXi has no day and night mirror.
Does the Hyundai i20 Asta (O) have an auto-dimming IRVM?
No. Hyundai lists a day and night mirror as standard on all nine i20 variants, with Bluelink buttons on the mirror on the Asta (O) and Asta (O) Knight.
Is the CNG Baleno available with the auto-dimming mirror?
No. The S-CNG is sold in Delta and Zeta trims only, and the mirror starts at the Alpha.
