8 Best Compact SUVs With 6 Airbags in India (2026)

8 Best Compact SUVs With 6 Airbags in India (2026)

All eight have identical airbag counts, yet adult protection still spreads from 31.15 down to 29.36 because the difference comes from structure and restraints. Two of the cheapest, the Maruti Fronx and Kia Sonet, have no crash-test result at all. And check what each rating covers: the Kia Syros 5-star result excludes its diesel and the Maruti Brezza's excludes its S-CNG, so on both cars the fuel you choose decides whether the rating applies.

Eight compact SUVs in India come with six airbags on every variant, and six of them hold 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings. The Hyundai Venue has the best adult protection score at 31.15 out of 32, the Skoda Kylaq the best child score at 45 out of 49, and the Tata Nexon is the only one here rated 5 stars by both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the cheapest at Rs 6.90 lakh.

Two of the eight have no crash-test result at all: the Fronx and the Kia Sonet. Both have six airbags confirmed on every variant, but no independent measure of the structure around them.

The six with a crash-test result

Hyundai Venue, from Rs 8.00 lakh

The best adult protection on this list at 31.15 out of 32, with 44.46 for children. The rating covers both the petrol and diesel families, including the turbo DCT that carries the assistance hardware.

The 1.2 petrol makes 83 PS and 114.7 Nm, the 1.0 turbo 120 PS and 172 Nm, and the 1.5 diesel 116 PS and 250 Nm, claiming up to 20.99 km/l. Level 2 brings smart cruise control with stop and go, forward collision-avoidance assist, and lane keeping assist, along with a 360-degree surround view monitor, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and disc brakes all round.

Skoda Kylaq, from Rs 7.59 lakh

The best child protection score on this list, a full 45 out of 49, with 30.88 for adults. Tested in January 2025. One engine: the 1.0 TSI with 115 PS and 178 Nm, claiming 19.68 km/l on the manual and 19.05 km/l on the automatic.

Standard kit includes stability control, traction control, multi-collision braking, ISOFIX, tyre pressure monitoring, and a rear camera. Higher trims add six-way powered and ventilated front seats. No driver assistance at any price.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza, from Rs 7.50 lakh

Five stars both ways, at 30.41 and 43. The rated covers the 1.5 petrol in manual and automatic, plus the 1.0 turbo manual. The 1.5 K15C makes 103.05 PS and 139 Nm, the 1.0 K10C turbo 110.12 PS and 170 Nm, and the S-CNG 87.8 PS and 121.5 Nm.

Claimed mileage runs to 21.09 km/l on the 1.5, 19.96 to 20.47 km/l on the turbo, and 26.90 km/kg on CNG. No ADAS, but the top trim adds a 360-degree camera, head-up display, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The S-CNG falls outside the variants the rating covers.

Kia Syros, from Rs 8.42 lakh

30.21 out of 32 and 44.42 out of 49. It is also the most comfort-focused car here, with ventilated front and rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

Worth reading the rating's scope carefully: Bharat NCAP's applicability list names only the 1.0 turbo-petrol family. The 1.5 diesel, at 116 PS and 250 Nm, is not covered by the 5-star result. The turbo petrol makes 120 PS and 172 Nm, claiming 18.2 km/l on the manual.

Tata Nexon, from Rs 7.40 lakh

The only car here with 5 stars from both programmes: 29.41 out of 32 and 43.83 out of 49 at rating, and 32.22 out of 34 with 44.52 out of 49 at Bharat NCAP.

It also has the widest fuel choice on this list: a 1.2 turbo petrol with 120 PS and 170 Nm, a 1.5 diesel with 115 PS and 260 Nm, and a turbo-petrol CNG with 100 PS. The diesel AMT claims 24.08 km/l and the CNG 24 km/kg. A 360-degree camera with blind view monitor and ISOFIX are available, with autonomous emergency braking and lane keep assist on the top petrol automatic.

Mahindra XUV 3XO, from Rs 7.79 lakh

29.36 out of 32 and 43 out of 49, with the most power and torque on this list. Engines are a 1.2 turbo petrol with 111.5 PS and 200 Nm, a 1.2 GDi with 130.5 PS and 230 Nm, and a 1.5 diesel with 116.7 PS and 300 Nm. The diesel AMT claims 21.2 km/l.

Level 2 assistance, with adaptive cruise, autonomous emergency braking, and lane keep assist on the AX5 L and above. Also included: a 360-degree camera, disc brakes all round, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and a panoramic sunroof.

The two without one

Maruti Suzuki Fronx, from Rs 6.90 lakh. The cheapest compact SUV here and the efficiency leader. Maruti's brochure confirms six airbags on every variant from Sigma to Alpha, along with the 1.2 Dual Jet at 89.73 PS and 113 Nm, the 1.0 Boosterjet turbo at 100.06 PS and 147.6 Nm, and the CNG at 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm. Claimed mileage is 22.89 km/l on the petrol automatic and 28.51 km/kg on CNG, both the best figures on this page. Stability control, hill hold, ISOFIX, a 360-degree camera, and a head-up display on the Alpha. No Bharat NCAP result.

Kia Sonet, from Rs 7.41 lakh. The most fuel-efficient diesel here at a claimed 24.1 km/l on the manual, with three engines and the widest gearbox choice: a 1.2 petrol with 83 PS, a 1.0 turbo with 120 PS and 172 Nm on an iMT or DCT, and a 1.5 diesel with 116 PS and 250 Nm. Stability control with vehicle stability management, ISOFIX, tyre pressure monitoring, and a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor. Driver assistance is Level 1, so forward collision-avoidance assist and lane keep assist, but no adaptive cruise. No Bharat NCAP result.

Choosing between them

The scores spread more than the spec sheets do. All eight have the same airbag count, yet adult protection runs from 31.15 to 29.36 and child protection from 45 to 43. That gap comes from the structure and restraints, not the airbags.

Check what the rating covers, not just that there is one. The Kia Syros rating excludes its diesel and the Maruti Brezza's excludes its S-CNG. On both cars, the fuel you pick decides whether the 5 stars apply to you.

Two of the cheapest are untested. The Fronx leads this group on running costs and the Sonet on diesel economy, and neither has a crash score. That is a trade worth making deliberately.
