Compact SUV Mileage Under Rs 10 Lakh: Every Qualifying Variant Ranked
The Maruti Fronx gives the best certified mileage of any compact SUV variant under Rs 10 lakh: 28.51 km/kg on CNG from the Sigma CNG at Rs 7,93,900 and 22.89 km/l from the 1.2 AMT Delta AGS at Rs 8,24,900. The Maruti Brezza follows with 26.90 km/kg from the LXi CNG at Rs 9,39,900 and 21.09 km/l from the LXi at Rs 8,34,900. The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG MX Edge just qualifies at Rs 9,99,000 with 24.7 km/kg. Tata, Hyundai and Renault publish no certified figures, so the Punch, Nexon, Exter, Venue and Kiger are not ranked.
The compact SUV with the best certified mileage that you can actually buy for under Rs 10 lakh is the Maruti Fronx: 28.51 km/kg on CNG from the Sigma CNG at Rs 7,93,900, and 22.89 km/l on petrol from the 1.2 AMT Delta AGS at Rs 8,24,900. The Maruti Brezza is next, with 26.90 km/kg from the LXi CNG at Rs 9,39,900 and 21.09 km/l from the LXi petrol manual at Rs 8,34,900. The new Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG squeezes in at exactly Rs 9,99,000 with a certified 24.7 km/kg. Nine of the twelve Fronx variants and seven of the thirteen Brezza variants are priced under Rs 10 lakh, and this list counts only those.
That is the difference from our broader ranking of compact SUVs with the best mileage, which ranks every version regardless of price. Here the question is narrower: which variant, under the ceiling, gives you which certified figure. Prices are ex-showroom Delhi, single-tone paint, checked October 2026.

CNG is measured in km/kg and petrol in km/l, so the two halves of the table are not directly comparable. The ranks run CNG first only because each CNG figure here is the best its car offers.
Not ranked, because the maker publishes no certified figure: Tata Punch and Nexon, Hyundai Exter and Venue, and Renault Kiger (the Kiger brochure we read has no fuel-efficiency table). Kia, Skoda and Mahindra's petrol XUV 3XO are left out for the same reason: we could not find a certified figure from the maker. Every one of these sells versions under Rs 10 lakh, so the table is not a full list of compact SUVs at this price, only of those with a maker-certified number.
Certified, but price not confirmed: the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor shares the Fronx's 28.51 km/kg on CNG, and Toyota's brochure gives 22.79 km/l for the 1.2 AMT, 21.71 km/l for the 1.2 manual and 21.18 km/l for the 1.0 turbo manual. Toyota's price list did not return prices when we checked, so we cannot say which Taisor variants fall under Rs 10 lakh.
What the variant view changes
The Fronx CNG is also one of the cheapest ways in
The best CNG figure under the ceiling is not a top trim. The Fronx Sigma CNG at Rs 7,93,900 is the third-cheapest Fronx, and the Delta CNG at Rs 8,73,900 returns the same 28.51 km/kg with more equipment. The Brezza CNG costs Rs 1,46,000 more than the Fronx Sigma CNG and is 1.61 km/kg less efficient; what it buys is a bigger 1.5-litre engine, 87.8 PS against 77.5 PS in CNG mode, and a 6-speed gearbox.
The efficient automatic is the AMT, and it costs little
Among automatics with a certified figure and a confirmed price under Rs 10 lakh, both are Fronx AMTs. The Delta AGS at Rs 8,24,900 certifies 22.89 km/l, 1.1 km/l better than the manual, for Rs 50,000 over the Delta manual. The Brezza's only automatic, the 6-speed VXi AT, starts at Rs 10,60,900 and so misses this list. If you want a compact SUV automatic under Rs 10 lakh and care about fuel, the Fronx AMT is the answer among the certified cars. Our guide to compact SUV automatics under Rs 10 lakh covers the gearbox side in more depth.
Turbo engines are under the ceiling too
The Brezza's 1.0 turbo (110.12 PS, 170 Nm) is now its cheapest version: the LXi Turbo starts at Rs 7,49,900, Rs 85,000 below the 1.5 LXi, and certifies 20.47 km/l. Higher trims of the same engine drop to 19.96 km/l. The Fronx 1.0 turbo manual certifies 21.5 km/l in the Delta Plus and Zeta trims, so the Fronx turbo beats the Brezza turbo by about 1 km/l. Remember that a turbo engine driven hard drifts further from its test figure than a non-turbo engine does.
Where the ceiling bites
Three Fronx variants are over Rs 10 lakh: the Alpha turbo manual at Rs 10,60,900, the Zeta turbo automatic at Rs 11,03,900 and the Alpha turbo automatic at Rs 11,88,900. Six Brezza variants are over, starting with the ZXi manual at Rs 10,54,900 and the ZXi CNG at Rs 11,59,900. So within the ceiling the Brezza tops out at the VXi CNG or the ZXi Turbo, and the Fronx at the Zeta turbo manual. The ZXi Turbo is the only ZXi-trim Brezza that gets in.
The cars, briefly
Maruti Fronx
The Fronx leads on both fuels under Rs 10 lakh. Its brochure lists three engines: the 1.2 petrol (89.73 PS, 113 Nm), the same engine on CNG (77.5 PS, 98.5 Nm) and the 1.0 turbo (100.06 PS, 147.6 Nm). The 1.2-litre versions come only in Sigma, Delta and Delta Plus trims; Zeta and Alpha are turbo only. Its weakness at this price is equipment: the cheapest CNG and AMT variants are the base and second trims.
Maruti Brezza
The Brezza is the roomier car, with a 1.5-litre engine and a 6-speed manual on every version under the ceiling. Its mileage is printed in the brochure's feature page: 21.09 km/l for the LXi and VXi manual, 20.81 km/l for the ZXi manual, 20.47 km/l for the LXi and VXi turbo, 19.96 km/l for the ZXi and ZXi+ turbo, 20.17 km/l for the automatic and 26.90 km/kg for the CNG. The Brezza holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, but the applicability grid covers only the 1.5 petrol and 1.0 turbo petrol versions, not the S-CNG.
Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG
Mahindra launched the ZNG on 15 October 2026. Its press release gives 24.7 km/kg certified, with a 1.2-litre turbo making 82 kW and 200 Nm on both CNG and petrol. Only the base MX Edge, at Rs 9,99,000, is under the ceiling; the next ZNG, the REVX Edge (O), costs Rs 10,79,000. The ZNG returns about 3.8 km/kg less than the Fronx CNG, and Mahindra says it is "engineered for" a 5-star rating that the existing XUV 3XO already holds, which is not the same as the CNG version having been tested. Its boot is 270 litres because the twin cylinders sit under the floor.
Nissan Magnite
Nissan's brochure gives 19.4 km/l for the 1.0 manual, 19.7 km/l for the AMT, 19.9 km/l for the turbo manual and 17.9 km/l for the turbo CVT. Nissan's site lists only each grade's starting price, from Rs 5,69,400 for the Visia, so we can confirm only that the base manual is under the ceiling. The turbo and AMT figures are better, but we could not confirm the price of those variants.
How to use this list
Work out your monthly distance first. A CNG variant saves money only after it recovers its higher price, and the Fronx Sigma CNG costs Rs 1,04,000 more than the Sigma petrol. If you drive little, the cheapest petrol manual may be the cheaper car to own. Our comparison of compact SUVs with the lowest running cost does that arithmetic in rupees per kilometre, and the CNG compact SUVs under Rs 10 lakh list on our sister site looks at the CNG versions alone.
How this list was built
Mileage figures are the certified numbers each maker prints: the Fronx brochure's specification table, the Brezza brochure's feature page (where the figures are printed as graphics), Toyota's Taisor brochure, Nissan's Magnite brochure and Mahindra's XUV 3XO ZNG launch release. Maruti prices come from Maruti's own variant price lists on the NEXA and Arena sites, the Mahindra price from its model page and launch release, and the Magnite price from Nissan's model page. All are ex-showroom Delhi, single-tone paint, checked October 2026.
What we could not verify: certified mileage for the Punch, Nexon, Exter, Venue, Kiger, the Kia and Skoda compact SUVs and the petrol XUV 3XO, because their makers do not publish one we could find; Taisor prices, because Toyota's price list did not return them; and the Magnite's variant-level prices above the base grade. Certified figures come from a fixed laboratory cycle. Real-world mileage is usually lower, and the gap is often larger for turbo engines.
Frequently asked questions

Yes. The Maruti Fronx Delta AGS (Rs 8,24,900) and Delta Plus AGS (Rs 8,64,500) use a 5-speed AMT and certify 22.89 km/l, better than the manual. The Brezza automatic starts above Rs 10 lakh.
Why are the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter not ranked?
Tata and Hyundai do not publish certified mileage in their brochures. Figures you see for these cars come from other sources, so we have not ranked them against maker-certified numbers.
Is the Brezza CNG covered by its 5-star Bharat NCAP rating?
No. Bharat NCAP's applicability grid for the Brezza lists the 1.5 petrol manual and automatic and the 1.0 turbo manual. The S-CNG is not on it.
