10 Best SUVs With 6 Airbags Under Rs 20 Lakh in India (2026)

10 Best SUVs With 6 Airbags Under Rs 20 Lakh in India (2026)

All ten have six airbags from the base variant, so at this budget the money buys driver assistance rather than more airbags, and the entry price for it runs from Rs 12.03 lakh on the XUV 3XO to above Rs 20 lakh on the XUV 7XO. Two of the ten have never been crash tested and both are Maruti, the Fronx and Grand Vitara. And on the two rated Marutis, the Victoris and Brezza, the S-CNG variants fall outside the 5-star rating.

Ten SUVs fit six airbags to every variant and have versions priced under Rs 20 lakh, and eight of the ten hold 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings. The Kia Seltos has the highest adult score at 31.70 out of 32 and shares the best child score of 45 out of 49 with the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the cheapest way in at Rs 6.90 lakh, and the Mahindra XUV 3XO offers the cheapest driver assistance at Rs 12.03 lakh.

Two of the ten have never been crash tested, and both are Maruti: the Fronx and the Grand Vitara. Their six airbags are confirmed in Maruti's own brochures, but no independent test has measured how the structure around those airbags behaves.

The crash scores, ranked

Kia Seltos, from Rs 11.25 lakh

The best crash result here on both counts: 31.70 out of 32, the highest Bharat NCAP has awarded any SUV, and 45 out of 49 for children. The rating covers every engine and gearbox, petrol, turbo petrol and diesel alike.

The 1.5 petrol makes 115 PS, the 1.5 turbo 160 PS and 253 Nm, and the 1.5 diesel 116 PS and 250 Nm, returning roughly 15.6 to 19.4 km/l. Its Level 2 suite is the deepest on this list, with forward collision avoidance for cars, pedestrians and cyclists, lane following assist, blind spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, safe exit warning and smart cruise control with stop and go.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris, from Rs 10.50 lakh

31.66 out of 32, three hundredths behind the Seltos, with 43 for children, and 5 stars at Global NCAP too. The rating runs from the base LXI to the ZXI+ 4WD.

The only SUV here with a strong hybrid: a 68 kW (92.45 PS) engine with 122 Nm plus a 59 kW (80 PS) motor with 141 Nm, claiming 28.65 km/l, the best figure on this page. The 1.5 petrol makes 103.06 PS and 139 Nm and the S-CNG 87.8 PS and 121.5 Nm at 27.02 km/kg.

Level 2 assistance arrives on the ZXI+ automatics from Rs 17.49 lakh. Note that the strong hybrid variants do not get it, so the most efficient Victoris is not the best-assisted one. And the S-CNG falls outside the variants the 5-star rating covers.

Tata Sierra, from Rs 11.49 lakh

31.14 out of 32 with 44.73 for children, the second-best child score here. Engines are a 1.5 petrol with 106 PS, a 1.5 turbo petrol with 160 PS and 255 Nm, and a 1.5 diesel with 118 PS and up to 280 Nm.

At Rs 19.99 lakh the Accomplished automatic brings a Level 2+ suite with adaptive cruise and stop and go, lane centering, advanced steering assist, autonomous emergency braking for pedestrians, cars and cyclists, and traffic sign recognition, plus a 12-speaker JBL system and a 12.3-inch screen. It is the most equipment per rupee at the top of this budget.

Mahindra Thar Roxx, from Rs 12.52 lakh

31.09 out of 32 and a full 45 out of 49, joint best for children, on a ladder-frame 4x4. The 2.0 turbo petrol makes up to 177 PS and 380 Nm, and the 2.2 diesel 152 PS and 330 Nm, with 4x4 on the MX5 diesel manual at Rs 19.42 lakh.

Level 2 assistance starts at Rs 17.28 lakh on the AX3 L diesel manual, with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise with stop and go, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and smart pilot assist. Roll-over mitigation, a brake locking differential, hill descent and a blind view monitor come with the off-road hardware. Mileage is the weak point at 12.4 km/l petrol and 15.2 km/l diesel.

Mahindra XUV 7XO, from Rs 13.99 lakh

30.76 out of 32 and 44.97 out of 49, and the only three-row SUV here, with seven seats from Rs 13.99 lakh and curtain airbags that extend to the third row. The 2.0 turbo petrol makes 203 PS and 380 Nm, the 2.2 diesel 185 PS and up to 450 Nm.

The catch under this budget is assistance: Level 2 sits above Rs 20 lakh, so the Rs 19.60 lakh AX7 diesel manual gets tyre pressure monitoring, a surround view camera and dual-zone climate control but no adaptive cruise or lane keeping.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza, from Rs 7.50 lakh

30.41 out of 32 and 43 for children, with the rating covering the 1.5 petrol in manual and automatic plus the 1.0 turbo manual. The 1.5 K15C makes 103.05 PS and 139 Nm, the 1.0 K10C turbo 110.12 PS and 170 Nm, and the S-CNG 87.8 PS at 26.90 km/kg.

No ADAS at any price, but the top ZXi+ stacks a 360-degree camera, head-up display, ventilated seats, blind spot warning, safe exit warning and rear cross-traffic alert for under Rs 14 lakh, which is a lot of active kit without the radar suite. As with the Victoris, the S-CNG sits outside the rating.

Tata Nexon, from Rs 7.40 lakh

29.41 out of 32 and 43.83 out of 49, rated across petrol and diesel. The 1.2 turbo petrol makes 120 PS and 170 Nm, the 1.5 diesel 115 PS and 260 Nm, with the diesel AMT claiming 24.08 km/l, the best non-hybrid figure here.

ADAS arrives on the petrol DCA variants from Rs 13.77 lakh, the second-cheapest entry on this list.

Mahindra XUV 3XO, from Rs 7.79 lakh

29.36 out of 32 and 43 for children, and the cheapest route to driver assistance anywhere on this page at Rs 12.03 lakh for the AX5 L turbo manual. That brings forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and high beam assist, with adaptive cruise on the top AX7 L automatic.

Three engines: a 111 PS turbo petrol, a 131 PS TGDi turbo petrol with 230 Nm, and a 117 PS diesel with 300 Nm, the most torque here.

The two with no crash test

Maruti Suzuki Fronx, from Rs 6.90 lakh. The cheapest entry on this list and the mileage leader, with a claimed 22.89 km/l on the petrol automatic and 28.51 km/kg on CNG, both confirmed in Maruti's brochure along with the six airbags. The 1.2 Dual Jet makes 89.73 PS and 113 Nm and the 1.0 Boosterjet turbo 100.06 PS and 147.6 Nm. Stability control, hill hold, ISOFIX, a 360-degree camera and a head-up display on the higher trims. No Bharat NCAP result and no ADAS.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh. Six airbags standard, confirmed in the brochure. The 1.5 petrol makes 103.06 PS and 139 Nm, the strong hybrid pairs a 92.45 PS engine with an 80 PS motor, claiming 27.97 km/l, and AllGrip Select four-wheel drive is available on the petrol automatic from about Rs 18 lakh. Claimed petrol mileage is 21.11 km/l manual and 20.58 km/l automatic. A 360-degree camera, head-up display, ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof on the top trim. No Bharat NCAP result and no ADAS.

What to weigh at this budget

Assistance is where the money goes, not airbags. All ten have six from the base variant. What Rs 20 lakh buys over Rs 10 lakh is the radar suite, and the entry price for it ranges from Rs 12.03 lakh on the XUV 3XO to above Rs 20 lakh on the XUV 7XO.

The two untested cars are both Marutis, and both are strong on running costs. That is a real trade rather than a reason to rule them out, but it should be made knowingly.

Check the fuel, not just the model. The Victoris and Brezza ratings both exclude their S-CNG variants, so the CNG car you drive away in is not the car that was crashed.
