Best 7 and 8-Seater Family Cars With Premium Comfort Features in India (2026)
Comfort features on three-row family cars are tied to specific variants, and on the Invicto and Innova Hycross they sit on 7-seat trims only. The Invicto Alpha+ costs Rs 3.68 lakh more than the base Zeta+ and about Rs 2.5 lakh less than a Hycross ZX, which adds powered ottoman seats. The Kia Carens Clavis HTX+ and Hyundai Alcazar Signature bring ventilated seats and captain chairs to smaller cars, and the Rs 59,64,900 Kia Carnival has powered, ventilated second-row seats. The Invicto has no ADAS.
For a 7 or 8-seater family car with premium comfort features, the two to shortlist are the Maruti Suzuki Invicto Alpha+ at Rs 28,70,500 and the Toyota Innova Hycross ZX at Rs 31,20,000. Both are 7-seat strong hybrids certified at 22.16 km/l, with second-row captain seats, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate and a separate climate zone for the rear. The Hycross adds powered ottoman seats. The Invicto costs about Rs 2.5 lakh less.
There is a catch that most lists skip. On both cars the comfort features sit on 7-seat variants only. Pick the 8-seat layout and you lose nearly all of them. If your budget is lower, the Kia Carens Clavis HTX+ and Hyundai Alcazar Signature bring ventilated seats and captain chairs to smaller three-row cars, and if it is far higher, the Kia Carnival is in a class of its own at Rs 59,64,900.
Comfort features by car and variant
| Car | Seats | Variant with the full comfort kit | Second row on that variant | Ventilated seats | Rear climate | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maruti Suzuki Invicto | 7 or 8 | Alpha+ (7 seats only) | Captain seats with side table | Front | Automatic climate, second zone | Rs 28,70,500 |
| Toyota Innova Hycross | 7 or 8 | ZX, ZX(O) (7 seats only) | Powered ottoman captain seats | Front | Automatic climate, second zone | Rs 31,20,000 and Rs 31,84,000 |
| Kia Carens Clavis | 6 or 7 | HTX+ | Captain seats on the 6-seater, bench on the 7-seater | Front | Roof-mounted vents | Range Rs 11,38,900 to Rs 21,78,900 |
| Hyundai Alcazar | 6 or 7 | Signature | Ventilated captain seats on the 6-seater | Front, plus second row on the 6-seater | Second and third row vents | Range starts at Rs 14,50,700 |
| Kia Carnival | 7 | Limousine Plus (only variant) | Powered relaxation captain seats with leg support | Front and second row, with heating | Independent 3-zone climate | Rs 59,64,900 |
Prices are ex-showroom, checked on 13 October 2026. Maruti's is from the NEXA price page, Toyota's from the price list tool on its website for a New Delhi dealer, and Kia's and Hyundai's from their own model pages. Kia and Hyundai show a starting price or range there, not a price for each variant, so the HTX+ and Signature are not priced individually here. Features are from each maker's current brochure.
How this list was built
We read the variant grid in each brochure and noted which trim gets which comfort feature, instead of listing the top variant's equipment as if it applied to the whole range. A car had to offer 7 or 8 seats and have at least captain seats or ventilated seats on some variant.
What we could not verify, and so left out of the ranking: the Mahindra XUV 7XO's brochure advertises front and rear ventilated seats, a powered co-driver seat with boss mode, dual-zone climate control and a retractable rear sunblind, but the copy we read does not tie them to variants. Mahindra lists the car at Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 25.94 lakh in 6 and 7-seat forms. The Tata Safari is missing because Tata's India car site was not reachable when we checked. Both deserve a look, with the variant confirmed at the dealer. We have not driven these cars back to back for this piece, so nothing here is a verdict on ride quality or seat comfort over a long day.
1. Maruti Suzuki Invicto
The Invicto comes in two trims, and they are very different cars inside. Maruti's brochure lists the Zeta+ with 7 or 8 seats and the Alpha+ with 7 only.
What the Alpha+ adds over the Zeta+, per the brochure:
- Ventilated front seats
- 8-way power driver's seat with memory
- Panoramic sunroof with ambient lights
- One-touch powered tailgate
- Automatic climate control for the rear as a second zone (the Zeta+ has automatic blower control)
- Leatherette seats
- PM 2.5 cabin filter and an acoustic, IR-cut windshield
- 360 view camera, front and reverse parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring
- A 25.65 cm touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay
Both trims share the things that matter to rear passengers: captain seats with a side table and walk-in slide and recline on the 7-seater, roof-mounted vents for the second and third rows, second-row retractable sunshades, a 50:50 split reclining third row and Type-C ports for the second row.
Prices are Rs 25,02,400 for the Zeta+ 7-seater, Rs 25,37,300 for the Zeta+ 8-seater and Rs 28,70,500 for the Alpha+. So the full comfort kit costs Rs 3.68 lakh over the base car. The 139 kW (188.9 PS) strong hybrid is certified at 22.16 km/l on every variant, and Bharat NCAP rated the Invicto 5 stars with 30.43 out of 32 for adults and 45 out of 49 for children. Six airbags are standard.
Where it falls short: no ADAS on any variant, no ottoman or powered second-row seats, and no ventilation for the second row. The 8-seater is the bare one. It has no sunroof, no ventilated seats and, less forgivably at Rs 25 lakh, no parking sensors.
2. Toyota Innova Hycross
The Hycross has the same split, spread over more grades. Toyota's brochure lists 7 or 8 seats on the GX, GX(O), VX and VX(O), and 7 seats only on the ZX and ZX(O).
The comfort features arrive in three steps:
| Feature | First grade that has it | 7-seat price of that grade |
|---|---|---|
| Captain seats with side table | GX (7-seater) | Rs 19,53,000 |
| Automatic climate control, rear automatic blower | GX(O) | Rs 20,97,000 |
| Panoramic sunroof | VX(O) | Rs 28,77,000 |
| Ventilated front seats, powered ottoman second row, 8-way power driver's seat with memory, power back door, second climate zone, 9-speaker JBL audio | ZX | Rs 31,20,000 |
| Toyota Safety Sense with adaptive cruise control | ZX(O) | Rs 31,84,000 |
The powered ottoman seats are the one thing the Invicto cannot match. They recline with a leg rest and have a long slide, which is why the ZX grades are 7-seat only. Whether that is worth about Rs 2.5 lakh over an Invicto Alpha+ depends on who sits in the second row. For grandparents on a six-hour drive, probably yes.
The hybrid (VX and above) makes 139 kW and is certified at 22.16 km/l. The petrol GX and GX(O) are certified at 16.13 km/l. Six airbags are on every grade, and Bharat NCAP gave the Hycross 5 stars with 30.47 out of 32 and 45 out of 49.
The weakness is price creep. A Hycross with a sunroof is Rs 28.77 lakh, and one with ventilated seats is over Rs 31 lakh.
3. Kia Carens Clavis
The Clavis is the value pick. Kia's brochure puts front ventilated seats and a 4-way power driver's seat on the HTX+, which is also the only trim offered as a 6-seater with second-row captain seats that slide, recline and tumble. Every other trim is a 7-seater with a 60:40 bench.
Lower down, the base HTE already has roof vents for the second and third rows with a 4-stage fan control, rear door sunshade curtains and one-touch electric tumble for the second row. A dual-pane panoramic sunroof comes in at HTK+(O) on the turbo-petrol, and the HTX adds a retractable seat-back table, an air purifier and 64-colour ambient lighting.
Kia's site lists the range from Rs 11,38,900 to Rs 21,78,900 for the GTX+ 7-seater. That makes a ventilated-seat Clavis several lakh cheaper than an Invicto Alpha+.
What you give up is size and refinement. It is a smaller car with a tighter third row, the driver's seat adjusts four ways against eight on the Invicto and Hycross, and there is no rear climate zone, only vents. The brochure prints no certified mileage, and we did not find the Clavis in Bharat NCAP's published ratings list.
4. Hyundai Alcazar
The Alcazar's party trick is second-row ventilation. Hyundai's brochure shows ventilated second-row captain seats, a thigh cushion extension and wing-type headrests on the 6-seat Signature. Front ventilated seats and driver's seat memory also start at the Signature.
More useful is what comes on every trim: dual-zone automatic climate control and a rear window sunshade are standard from the base Executive. The voice-enabled panoramic sunroof is restricted to petrol versions on most trims.
Hyundai lists a starting price of Rs 14,50,700. The catch is the layout. The ventilated second row exists only on the 6-seater, so a family that needs seven seats gets a bench without it. The Alcazar is also narrower than the Invicto and Hycross, and Hyundai's brochure prints no certified mileage.
5. Kia Carnival
At Rs 59,64,900 the Carnival is not competing with anything above, but it answers the question if money is no object. Kia sells one variant, the Limousine Plus, as a 7-seater in a 2+2+3 layout.
The brochure lists second-row powered relaxation seats with ventilation, heating and leg support, front seats with ventilation and heating, a 12-way power driver's seat with memory, an 8-way power front passenger seat, independently controlled 3-zone climate, electric sliding doors, a wide dual electric sunroof and a powered tailgate. It has 8 airbags and a 2.2-litre diesel making 142 kW.
It is over five metres long, which makes it awkward in tight city parking, and it is diesel only.
Which one to buy
For most families shopping at this level, the Invicto Alpha+ is the best balance. It has the features people actually use on a long trip, a 5-star rating and the lowest price of the two full-size hybrids. Spend the extra on a Hycross ZX if the second row is for adults who will use the ottomans, or on the ZX(O) if you want driver assistance.
If you need eight seats, be realistic: you are buying space, not luxury. And if Rs 28 lakh is too much, a Clavis HTX+ gets you ventilated seats and captain chairs for far less, in a smaller car.
For rear-seat buyers with a driver, our chauffeur-driven MPV guide covers the same cars from the back seat, and 6-seater MPVs with captain seats looks at the cheaper end.
